Waiting for a Response

Excerpt from the locked topic about merged cuirass and grieves/greaves:

It was a Bethesda decision. This is all up to opinion. It doesn't make their games more "simplified" or them cheap. Separated slots or full ones are seen varied all across the RPG genre.

I will however agree that more customization is usually a good thing.

But Howard gave a good explanation for why the team did things the way they did including other things like mark and recall.

Others weren't so well explained. I felt the Shivering Isles Q&A was better done. But by then they had time to reflect+ no need to hide gameplay elements or mechanics.

I'd like some sort of response to this. Topics like this are why Bethesda and its fans are very lowly received by the overall hardcoe RPG fanbase.

Morrowinds gameplay mechanics were poor anyways. Only lore, story, and writing-wise is where Beth did some good.

They've been getting better at everything else other than those they got right in Morrowind.

Also people forget the give and take devs face with games. Just ask J.E. Sawyer.

Jumping into the abyss here: How about that well written response.

The trade-off was less armour "slots" for more armour sets. I always wore matching armour anyways so as far as I'm concerned this scenario is a win/win (more unique looking armours, and more sets of them)

i disagree that more customization is a good thing. quite contrary in fact. GOOD customization is a GOOD thing. ( i realize you put usually but the point stands)

honestly though i see nothing wrong with the merge. it in no way affects my opinion of the company or the game. it is what it is. end of story. just my opinion though.

Wait. Who are these people and why should their opinions matter to me?

One of the Bethesda developers said that one reason for the combination was that it allowed more characters on the screen. more people on the screen makes for a more believeable environment. Am more believeable town, ect... Honestly I do not see the issues with the combination...especially with all the other customizations like the smithy, etc...

Doesn't make a big difference to me. I ended up wearing matching cuirasses and greaves anyway. Just explain it away in your mind by assuming that the greaves fit so closely to the cuirass that wearing an umatched set will hinder your movement. =P
