Only within the context of the events taking place. The empire is crumbling therefore I'd like to see hostility against those seen as representing the empire.

I wouldnt mind seeing more tension between the races.. Or maybe even a reputation system for each town / city so you could build up your rep to take on different quests that you wouldnt have access to because that particular town just doesnt like whatever race you chose.

I'd like to see a city you can't even enter unless you're a Nord ... at least until you get to a certain stage in the main quest, or maybe do a challenging, mid-level side quest to get in.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like lately, developers are adding racial issues into games just for the sake of trying to send the message that racism is bad. And what's worse is that it almost always comes off way too obvious and contrived.

Though I do think it was interesting in Fallout 3 how the head guy at Paradise Falls (forget his name, but remember his two six slaves with swords? damn that was cool) was black, as well as the guy at the front that you bring slaves to, and I think the Legion guy in NV that guarded the slaves at w/e Cove.

I think more conflicts about misogyny, class, wealth, etc. would be far more interesting. Maybe Bethesda could take a few hints from LA: Noire, even though these situations would be different because you wouldn't be Cole Phelps and wouldn't have to just sit there like a [censored] and watch your partner or fellow cop be a total dike.

Racism is something that you need to walk a fine line with. I know this is a video game and I have no problem with tension between races in Skyrim, like in Morrowind. However, you need to be careful about expanding it.

In my opinion in real life, I look at everyone as a human being and I despise racism. I look at it the same way in a video game.

I just think you have to be careful when dealing with that in a video game.

But why ignore logical issues and problems? A lot of argonians shouldn't like dunmers because they've been victims of slavery and abuse through the years. In morrowind there was
more than just tension.

This is a fictional world, if racism isn't okay to portray neither is killing people.

Think about it : You're playing with a dark elf character and the Nord don't like them. Why the hell would a dark elf then save skyrim from dragons? I wouldn't

no one said you had to. go join the d.b. and let Alduin and his dragons run free.

Yes I agree with you... But it looks like we might just need to make our own racism... sad but true because I feel that there should be extreme hate between some of the races.. just seems more realistic...

I hate Elves... Wood elves, dark elves... I hate hate them all... im making it a goal to kill many of them... Im pro human and anti Elf... haha

YES!!! I would love to see more racism in Skyrim!
I would like for most of the Highelves to dislike the other races and think they are better then everyone else,
I want the Orcs to all be stereotyped as Big stupid dirty brutes "kinda like the Krogan in Mass Effect"
I want Khajiit and Argonians to be threated like second hand citizens

I want Redguards to drink from the, (joking joking)

but for real i want to see more racism in Skyrim it would add gravity the Rebels vs Empire feel of the game as well

Yeah if this is not in the game I will be very disappointed. As someone mentioned it really looks like some sort of subtle depth was lost after morrowind....
mean come, the shrek-like Oblivion has as much lore depth as a fart in a bathtub.

Remember Daggerfall? If your provincial reputation was too low, you'd get innkeepers spouting racial disparagements at you and refusing you service.

I definitely think that the inclusion of racial conflicts and tension would make sense for the TES universe and contribute greatly towards the creation of an interesting world with believable verisimilitude.

I'd like it if you walk into a tavern in a Nord-centric area as a Dunmer or something and everyone in the building just goes silent and glares at you for a second or two, perhaps even murmuring insults, before going back to their business.

That would be good. For instance an Argonian will walk into a Dunmer heavy bar and never be seen or heard from again.

I agree with the OP. I'd like to see some major bad feeling, and an atmosphere of racial tension between the Nords and Dark Elves in particular. If Beth have an excuse for Oblivion's blandness in this respect, and if they need one, it could be said that Cyrodiil was meant to be a sort of cultural melting pot - and everyone co-existed to such an extent that racism was more impractical than anything, even if it remained in the hearts of many citizens.

Skyrim and civil war? That's a recipe for much less comfortable relations.
This.

"Hail, Agnar Rock-Breaker!"
"How are you, Hagaer Ice-Rock?"

"I thought of something even funnier than Wood Elves!"
"Really? What's that?"

"Dark Elves!"

They aren't real races, it isn't going to offend anyone. Except for that old lizard dude who lives across the street to me.

Even so, no-one is going to call Todd a racist and anyone who gets worked up about it won't have played the game.

Well when the first imperial says something to a redguard the entire black community will shun the game lol

The Argonian would hear: "You N'wah!!" and then experience unconsciousness.
