Can't fix Fallout 1 at all!

Post » Thu Jul 07, 2011 2:43 pm

I've been searching the web for fixes on Fallout 1's color weirdness but have only found things ofr Fallout 2. I run Windows 7.

Is there a patch or a mod I can download or something? I really want to play but this kind of ruins it for me.

Set your desktop to a solid color and open up your screen resolution and run Fallout 1, worked for me.

Did you get it off steam, if so, this'll be the fourth time i've fixed this problem for other people in a very short time span.

This might help. NMA is a great resource for Fallout 1 and 2 patches and fixes.

That fixed it! Kind of weird that I have to do some weird religious ceremony to get it to work, but whatever. I assume this works with Fallout 2 as well?

Thanks to everyone else for their solutions too! I'll get around to that High Res patch.

Mako:Sorry. I guess this is a rampant issue.

Well, what's your skill, do you have ammo, maybe they are out of range, whats your AGI, you may not have enough AP to fire it, and that'd be your own fault for minimizing AGI.

My AGI is 8, I am just fresh out of the vault with a 10mm and 72 bullets. Tag skills are small guns, speech and barter with Skilled and something else. I heard Fallout was more punishing when it comes to bad stats unlike the newer Fallouts. It's pretty sad though, I know F3/NV on the back of my hand but I feel as if I am like the Vault Dweller, fresh out of the vault and knows nothing :( Gotta go find me some tutorials or something.

Dap642 on Youtube does a great Fallout 1 LP. It helped me quite a bit when I first started. After I watched the first episode I was set.

Wow, it's one thing after another. Now that I know how to shoot something(I copied that Dap642 guy or w/e) and now the game can't hold on to my saves! Deletes them as soon as I close Fallout! Grrr, this will take some detective work.

sounds like something is set to "read only", and can't create new files. did you try looking at your folders?

Andaius:I was casually browsing the Fallout folder earlier and wanted to check out some Fallout songs, but they were all read only and couldn't be opened. If that isn't normal, then I assume my saves would be the same as well.
