R.I.P. Speed and Athletics/Acrobatics. Is there an heir?

Sure, it has more content and features than Oblivion, which is like saying that somebody has more intelligence than a rock.

This is called opinion. The fact remains from what we've seen = it has more content and features.

Yeah, a few natural things replaced old rpg-numbers(Perks/Sprint), so it's "dumbed down" ---- what a archaic way of thinking.

Your so called fact is actually opinion. Is the content added equal to what has been cut? We have no way to be certain as there really is no info out there just hype and conjecture. Usually the most logical conjecture is correct. Not the grand expectations.

has anything been cut though? its not like they took oblivion and just copied and pasted and cut what they didn't like.
they started over. so. basically. they've only added. and cut features that didn't work.

And what have they added? Tavern Brawls and marriage? BTW you just answered your own question in your last sentence :liplick:

technically. if they started from the ground up. they have added literally everything.
everything you have heard about and seen. has technically been added.
everything from bar fights. to dragons. to relationships. to trees. to rocks.
they have all been added.

Maybe from a technical standpoint. Definately from an animation standpoint. But gameplay design? Nah. Point in case "Perks". Yes you may have a few gems in there but all it really boils down to is a whitewash. It will turn out to be the same system (reffering to the old attribute system) with a new paint job. What adds insult to injury is the fact that it really isn't original or innovative, Many bad games follow the same formula. It has been archaic for a while now.

By cutting variable movement speeds they have nailed movement and running animation (no more skating). So it's not like they just went "Speed is useless let's cut it!" they cut it in favour of the game flowing better. There is still a chance of there being movement based perks as it's much easier to adjust speed to a true/false value (if the perk if selected they know exactly how to increase the speed of the animation against the speed of the player) rather than increase it based on a 1-100 variable scale, on top of modifying it depending on armour weight and your speed stat (like in Oblivion).

all i was saying was from a technical standpoint.

however i recall there being perks in oblivion. they were gained when your skills reached certain levels. for example. jumping on the surface of the water. or not having all your tumblers reset while lock picking. they're nothing new to the formula.

Yes but again it that is still the same system with a new paint job. To be honest I think movement speeds should have had slight variables depending on what race you were.

That again brings up my point. What has been added? There are no real improvements from the gameplay standpoint. So is it simply Oblivion with a new coat of paint? Where is this "streamlined" content going? I sure as hell hope the answer isn't for "ease of developement". Five years on a new engine? I would rather wait another five for a solid game with content. To quote a great artical - "Graphics serve aesthetics" not the other way around. Many games have tanked on a hollow empty shell that is a game with flash,

I'd rather have stamina determine how long I can run than having a speed attribute determine how hilariously fast I will run all the time.

okay first of all as gabbe has said above me sprint

and i for one have thought that jumping super high was pretty pointless but from what i have seen there will probably be a perk or a shout to increase speed/jump height so there is nothing to really worry about
