I got the Morrowind bug earlier and decided to pull it from Steam. Downloaded fine, game starts up, see the opening Bethesda movie, see the data loading screens, then a blank parchment background. Nothing happens beyond that. No sound, no movement. The game just sits there. I've tried running as admin and in WinXP compatibility mode. The game worked fine on this same rig about a year ago, though that was not the GOTY edition and was not the Steam version either. I have no mods running and all my drivers are up to date. Any ideas as to what I could do to get this working?

Did you download service pack 1? Just asking.

Yes, I have all the Windows updates available.

Well maybe since service pack one is really new, there may be conflictions? It's a long shot, so I'll move to the next plausible option. It's gotta be the Steam version
