Deathclaws run along similar lines, except they are infected reptiles, but are smart and good hunters. And lastly, Ghouls are just overly irradiated humans. All of this is just propaganda caused by Science! rather then Science!

Not really. Deathclaws were created BEFORE the war by the U.S. government. They were chameleons that went under heavy, and I mean heavy, genetic modification. Their purpose was to 'replace' soldiers in dangerous situations and, the more likely thing, to help combating China. Yet, before they could be implemented, the bombs fell.
