Duplication glitch?

Did anyone know of the duplication glitch using scrolls in Oblivion? If so do you think it was on purpose and therefore could possibly be in Skyrim?

No, it was not on purpose. That's why it's called a glitch. So no, it won't be in Skyrim unless they goof up again.

Not that it really matters to me. If I want to duplicate something, all I have to do is open up the command console and type in player.additem x x.

I play on 360 so I don't have that luxury. I just figured they knew about it because it was so common as to be on "Oblivion wiki".

I doubt they would intentionally put a glitch in their game.

I'm sorry.

Anyways, just because they didn't bother to patch it out doesn't mean it was intentional. And even the smallest thing tends to find their way onto wiki sites, so that's not surprising, either.

I don't think it was intentional but I was curious as to why it wasn't patched because it lead to a big whole in the game. I could get an infinite amount of money to buy anything at level 1. Also because it didn't work with certain items such as Daedric items like Umbra or Goldbrand. It was just a little odd about the selection of items that the "glitch" worked on.

I don't think it was on purpose, but part of me is starting to think it was. Every TES game so far has had at least one totally game-breaking glitch, that sometimes seem so convoluted in how they work, that they must've been placed. There's the infinite money glitch and dupe glitch in Oblivion, the soul trap glitch in Morrowind (and of course Morrowind had cheats too...) and there was one in Daggerfall... I can't remember what it was right now.

It didn't work on daedric items because they were unique items. Most items are randomly generated, and therefore there are theoretically an infinite number of them in the game, allowing the game to create them if told to. Daedric items, or any item with only a set number existing in the world this doesn't work on, because the game cannot create those items. Each one is individually placed in the game space.

I remember duping azuras star which is unique so it can't be something like that. I guess some items just don't work for some reason although I haven't found any that couldn't myself.

That would make sense but how would the glitch be overlook. It's not exactly a hard thing to do. You press A on a scroll and drop the item you want to duplicate. Also it's a glitch how is a game supposed know to ignore the glitch when an unique item is being duplicated. Is the game being picky. Isn't the nature of a glitch supposed to be to go around the games original design.

Duplication via scrolls was the SECOND duplication glitch method discovered in Oblivion, the first being changing arrows mid-shot and dropping an item. That one was patched BTW. So the scroll glitch was definitively not intentional as BSG patched a similar glitch.

there will be glitches .always are, no developer can help it not even the super successful ones such as rockstar , activision , DICE however i would be quite happy if there was a duplication glitch because i always hated using a certain rare weapon because the magicka enchantment would run out it it would get broken form extended use.
