Peaceful magic randomly makes NPCs hostile?

If I stand in front of an NPC and cast Light or Shield or whatever, occasionally they will think I am attacking them, freak out, and draw steel. Guards come, bounty accrues, the whole bit. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

I knew this was a side effect of Deadly Reflex. Can't remember if it has been fixed.

Yes, happens to me with Deadly Reflex 5. One "solution" is to face away from the NPC when casting the spell as it only seems to happen when facing them.
