Max Speed in-game?

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 3:59 am

I always thought once you get to 100 speed, that's it. But my friend told me you can go higher. He claims you can max out to 130. I'm not sure if I believe this as he sometimes makes stuff up just to see if I believe him.

So is this true?

If so, why is this??

Theoretically the max is 255. That's the hard coded limit in the game. But you need to be playing on a PC and use a mod that unlocks those extra levels in the game.

no, shoot, with the highest level sigil stone with 12 pts and you enchant that to every clothing possible, you could get it up to like 184. And then you could use potions and spells...

ok good info guys but here's the thing, when I fortify my athletics and acrobatics, I actually get faster too. Why is this? So far I made 100+ to acrobatics, athletics and speed, I am super fast now lol. I used the CS to do this btw and I'm thinking of going higher.

Max speed can be achieved when you manage to get...

- As much Speed / Strength / Athletics as you can get.
- As little encumbrance as you can get.

Basically that.

And just wearing clothing/robes.

Because Athletics, Acrobatics and Light Armour all contribute to the Speed attribute.

That's redundant to "As little encumbrance as you can get". Besides, at certain skill levels, both armor types have 0 encumbrance when equipped.

Okay.... here's the deal with attributes:

Naturally, they're capped at 100. You can't get a base score higher than 100 in the vanilla game.

Bonuses are tacked on to the base amount, so if your base score is 100 or close enough to it, and the bonuses are large enough, they'll take you over 100.

Scores over 100 will generally apply to the basic abilities granted by those attributes-- for instance, intelligence over 100 will continue to increase your magicka pool, strength over 100 will continue to increase your encumbrance limit and speed over 100 will continue to increase your movement speed.

In some instances, scores over 100 are deliberately not used in formulas-- for instance, strength over 100 will not increase your melee damage, nor will agility over 100 increase your marksman damage.

Regarding skills-- skills are capped at 100 (although, IIRC, the menu will display totals greater than 100) with two exceptions-- Athletics and Acrobatics. Those are the only skills for which you continue to gain abilities over 100-- movement speed for Athletics and jump height for Acrobatics.

If you want a shortcut, just down insane amounts of Skooma. :cookie:

No seriously, go to the Skooma Den in Bravil, take all the Skooma you can find. Drink it in one go to get a massive speed boost. (At the price of stunted Acrobatics)
