Yes. Definitely. I love Necromancy, and even as a young kid, all my role playing characters were Necromancers. My D&D friends hated me. Lol.
Now, before I start reminiscing about reanimating my friend after I killed him, and then the GM having him play as an undead... (Which I just did)
I have to talk about WHY it would be a good idea. Most people, and its slightly sick to say it, are attracted to death. As in a video game, which is experiencing something which you may never experience, death is also along that lines. When you achieve it, you can't really experience it.
That's why Vampires are popular. There is something romantic and attractive about them, not in the Twilight sense. Their greatest hunting feature is attracting humans. And since Humans are naturally drawn to death and find beauty in death, they come willingly.
And as for reanimating corpses, or creating flesh puppets, its different, something that has never been done. Which is why we like Magic in the first place. Necromancy is just a rarer, darker form of it.
Also, most people like the villains of stories, not just because they are usually cooler then the annoying main character, but because they are mysterious, dark, and have different feelings that clash with the norm. And since people hate being normal, its attractive.
Psychology aside, it just pure unaltered fun of bringing someones loved one back from the dead, and then forcing them to do evil things because you promise to reunite them when all is done... But a hungry corpse is all they receive for giving into the temptation... <.< Needless to say (Yet I'll do it anyway), I think I should never achieve the power to resurrect the dead.
