When I beat a faction, I'd want there still to be quests for me.

After I finish the main quest and one of the major guilds that either most closely matches my class I'll probably immediately make a new character and play my 2nd playthrough

I'll be doing this in order

~~Ingame~~

-Mainquest
-Factions
-Side quests
-Explore
-Look for rare and unique items
-Discover every ruin, fortress, dungeon, mine, deadra shrine, and cave that i haven't discovered yet in the game
-Search for easter eggs
-Max out my character
-Then just do whatever (normally i would go on killing sprees or look for something i've never done before)

=Sometimes i will eventually make a new game as a different race=

~~Real life~~

-Google stuff when i get stuck (This is a last resort though)
-Read up on Skyrim lore
-Save up for a PC that can run Skyrim so i can mod (cant do that now, to busy with other stuff. Also as of today, the game is less than 4 months from release)
-Wait for DLC announcement

While I'm in favor of the game continuing after the main quest, personally I wait until I am ready to permanently retire the character before even getting started with the main quest.

In fact, I have been playing Oblivion for years and I still have absolutely no idea what happens after you take Martin to Cloud Ruler Temple.

I plan to finish the main quest around 11.10.11, just before starting Skyrim.

I don't think i've ever played a TES or a bethesda fallout where i've done the main quest with my first character. I'll most often make a character especially for the main quest and never play him/her again after i've finished it, though sometimes I do some side quest inbetween with these MQ characters just for fun or to get the right level.

Bethesda have never been that good at making main plots so I tend to play their games for other reasons, also most characters I create aren't the kind that would be motivated to act heroes and save the world really.

Usually, after I complete the main quest, the game is over for me. I do tons of side-quests and exploration on the way, so by the time I reach the end-game quest I've already exhausted everything else I want to do.

My character possibly gets married after the Main Quest...and then after few more side quests I'll start a new character. I never do everything with one character.

Like this
1. character: Main Quest, Fighters Guild, gets married
2. character: Thieves guild, a lot of side quests
3. character: Mages guild

I'll possibly start installing any game fixing and graphics mods after 1. character too.

I'm thinking I might not finish the main quest of Skyrim until November 2016, just before the release date of The Elder Scrolls VI: Summerset Isle

I will refrain from doing the main quest for as long as seems reasonable. I like to play ES games in a leisurely fashion, wandering about here and there, and just seeing where the game takes me. I hate that feeling when you finish the main quest and begin to realise you have just about done all the game has to offer.
Luckily, expansions and mods will keep me playing Skyrim for years. : D
