Are you skeptic? Or skipping?

Post » Sun Jul 10, 2011 3:38 pm

I'm a heavy skeptic, but lately I'm running all out of rage. It's not that I have come to terms with all the changes, I still hate them, but ... I've just given up. There is too much to complain about, none of it is going to change, and I will just have to rely on mods to get my enjoyment out of the game.

I have no doubts Oblivion will be a good game but with recent discussions I'm just not confident that I'll enjoy it. So I've cancelled my pre-order and will reassess once it's on sale and I've have a chance to read reviews and player feedback and most importantly see if it can be modded in to the sort of game I want to play.

The current Steam sale has highlighted that I'm a lot less picky if I can pick up a game on sale.

Well, so far each TES game is unique, Skyrim will be no different, so there's no reason why I won't like it, so definitely not skipping it. I'm sure I'll play vanilla for hundreds of hours then when I feel the need to add something new beyond DLC/Expansions, what-have-you, I'll start adding in some mods, and will continue playing until the next TES game comes out. That being said, I will unfortunately not have enough time to play all TES games equally, there will come a time when there are too many TES games and I won't be capable of sharing the play time between them, OR... one of them will drop by the wayside and won't get played anymore, which I hope won't happen as they've all been great so far.

I think a majority of the "skeptics" are just complaining for the sake of complaining. but I am super hyped for this game :D

Yeah thats it, im just posting on this board to complain, its not that i have played the series and feel that the changes are a horrible way to handle one of the most complex RPGs ever.

Skyrim is to Morrowind as a toy model rocket is to the Atlantis Shuttle in terms of complexity

When killing that dragons is more about how you handle a mouse or a controller and less how you craft your character

I am not complaining to troll
I am not complaining to complain

I am complaining because the game companies have gone insane for "new customers" and stepping on some of their older ones in their search for the all mighty dollar

I am right on the edge of getting it used for no more then 29.99

I dont want to reward their decisions of ripping the RPG elements out of a game by buying it full price

Bioware got the message on ME2 and DA2

Hopefully Bethesda will get the message with Skyrim

ME2 was highly successfull and outscored almost every RPG ever, on average. Easily outscored every TES game and won more GOTYs awards than any TES.

DA2 you have a point, but that didn't fail due to "Teh RPG elementz" - it failed due to copy and paste dungeons, taking place in 1 town, crappy main story, crappy dialogue choices, and simplistic combat. = all things that Skyrim improves upon when compared to Morrowind.

Well, if you've made up your mind that you're not buying it right away, you're clearly not hyped and you clearly think this game is inferior, then why are you here? Oh yeah, to complain for the sake of complaining.
If everyone on these forums decided not to buy Skyrim due to these changes, nothing would change. We are the minority. No one cares about your complaining.
Now if you want to debate, learn about, and discuss Skyrim, then that's why these forums are here. But clearly you've made up your mind.

They have certainly made changes I don't like without giving excuses or giving excuses that are a load of nonsense (i.e. combining curiass and greaves gives a worthwhile performance boost), but I don't have any concern that the game will not surpass all previous TES titles.

Hmm i think if you look up about 8 posts you will see that i said i WAS Buying the game just not for full retail price

And i have made up my mind, and so have you, you think its going to be the awesome sauce

So why do the people who sqeee over the game not get attacked as fan bois?

Why is it just those skeptics that get slapped about?

Im here, i have done nothing to get banned, i will continue to post about my disappointment in how they are removing the RPG elements until the game comes out.

Perhaps, some miracle will occur and it will stop them from killing even more of those elements.

Hopefully Skyrim will be as moddable as previous games were

I have a gut feeling that Beth is going to deliver something special this time.

A few of our biggest gripes about the engine may have all been addressed when they were rebuilding the code.

Our three biggest gripes:

One body mesh per race: This has apparently been dealt with. We will have to see how it goes. I'm very optimistic.
Harded coded limit on animations: It's quite possible that the presence of the Havok Behavior animation blender has inherently removed this limitation. I'm mildly optimistic.
Hard coded limit on skills: Hopefully they were able to remove this so we can add more but I'm not so sure. In FO3 the perks were not hard coded and you could add an infinite amount of them. I'm doubtful given what I've seen but i'm hoping that both skills and perks are free form this time so we can mod in whatever we want. I'm cautiously optimistic

I have not stated my opinion, and you have no idea about my thoughts on the game.

It's not just the skeptics that get slapped apart, as it's the skeptics that slap around the supporters as well.
It's one group against the other, but you're to blind to see this as, once again, you've already made up your mind.

I never asked you to leave the forums, you're free to stay and spam your disappointment. I'm just letting you know that no one is listening nor caring and you're wasting your time.

The game will get released. The game will make millions, and you will be stuck in the corner replaying morrowind until you can get your hands on that lovely used copy that won't make a difference.

Define "RPG element"
Is it, "oh no I can't make things look worse when I use different greaves with a different cuirass?
or is it "oh no I can't fly over every hard part in the game" ?

And please describe the miracle you want to happen and what else they shouldn't change.

And I am buying the game. It looks nothing short of amazing. I started on Oblivion, but after I beat it, I played Daggerfall and Morrowind. Both were spectacular and unique in their own way, and I'm fine with every TES game being unique and fitting to the area it features in the game.

HEY MODS. Can we please get some attention on these topics. They are a dime a dozen and sometimes are two to a page. You wouldn't be allowed to do this with any other topic, why is it ok with the "are you still buying Skyrim now that...." type topics. Also the "Why so negative" topics need a big cull.

If Bethy is a sceptic and you are a supporter, then it's really the supporter here who's trying to start a fight. Your posts are incredibily hostile and it needs to stop.
