Unlimited companions

Post » Sun Jul 10, 2011 11:30 pm

So in oblivion you could get a bunch of companions to follow you around on your journeys. I really liked this feature and Bethesda confirmed that u can ask friends to help you on your journeys. What I would like to know is though how many can we have at a time because I like to have a big group and feel like a big clan. I would put every follower in my house and their was a bunch of them it was like a new guild. I hope they let us have a bunch of followers what do you think? Should we have a bunch of followers to hang with? It could make killing to easy for some players.

I think it would be a nice addition for a quest or what not, or something similar to Battlehorn Castle, if you could edit the inventory of certain followers... For example, give you nice hulking Nord friend a better axe and some new armor, perhaps a few potions...

There should be a 15-20 cap on how many companions that can be in your house and with you in battle, otherwise it would lagg allot.

I think that 10 companions would be a pretty good companion cap limit

Yeah, that seems fair.

I think if you have too many it can be a problem for console CPUs, no? (if they are all with you at once)

I had all of them that you could get in oblivion on my xbox 360 and I don't remember it lagging or anything like that at all except trying to kill the bad guys was hard cause they got in my way.

no... i think that they should be there own person and hanlde their selfs without your help. no cap. just a extra hand. i like conpainions but they are more of a fallout thing. i like flying solo and thats what a TES game should feel like. You care for yourself, not party managment. this is not DA2

I disagree, I find the idea of a "god almighty über strong Dovahkiin" in Skyrim kinda unrealistic, even in a fantasy setting. I much more prefer some companions from time to time, for me personally it's more realistic than just relying on your own godlike skills.

I like to roleplay a strong character, but everyone has his weaknesses and needs help in some situations.

I'll be out adventuring and slaying dragons with my wife, no other companions needed. also if she dies it may actually have some emotional impact, which Beth games usually lack.

I like the idea of changing their armor and equipment. What kind of friend would you be if you let your friend go into battle with crap weaponry.

Also on a realism note here I don't want every character to be whipping out the same armor. I mean it would make sense if I had a rich nobel as a friend having the most expensive armor and some good weapons but totally svck at them but if everyone pulls out the same stuff or high level stuff it is just going to be absurd. How is a poor person who almost can't feed themselves going to whip on some uber armor and start wielding some great weapons. If he could do that he would be a merc and not a poor person. I want to see this kept in perspective here.

It would also be cool if a good friend gave you some unique weapon as a token of your friendship. I think that kind of weapon I would cherish and would spawn hundreds of fan stories about the sword their best friend who perished at a dragons hand gave them.

On the PC version of Oblivion there were mods that let you have as many as you wanted at once. I'm sure that will be the case with Skyrim.

For the consoles or non-modders, though, I'm sure you'll be limited to one.

Yeah 4 is adequate really. Adding a whole lot will cause lag so nobody should be expecting 10-20 let alone unlimited. Besides 1 gets in the way enough if previous games are any indication, imagine a wall of them getting in the way lol.

I think I've managed to rangle up two followers and a dog on FO3, though once I told the lady with the power hamer to go home cause she was to weak to keep going for a specific part and then later on I couldn't get her to follow me again...

Rambling aside, a small little party would be sweet. For once my theif would like to approch a group of bandits and ask to join without them forcing my hand in killing them. If I could make my own little raiding party of highwaymen...Beth could do whatever else they wanted with the game. They could give me ten foot poles for swords along with spiky hair and I'd be happy as long as I had my band of highwaymen along with a steady stream of travelers and merchants.

Four and a dog would be plenty for me.

Fellowship :mohawk:

You get an Imperial ranger, a Dunmer archer, a Imperial knight, four useless Wood elves, a High Elf Wizard and an exceedingly short Nord barbarian
