Any mod recomendations?

Post » Mon Jul 11, 2011 5:42 am

So I used to play Oblivion alot but this was when it came out, tho I played it for quite a few months, im kinda new to mods tho.
Now with Skyrim coming out soon I decided to play Oblivion again and it seems there are tons of mods available for it.

So what im wondering is which are the essential and recomended mods that I absolutely need to install ( graphics improvements, balance improvements, bug fixes etc ) ?

Hopefully someone can make some very good suggestions.

Regards

I have a couple of notable or popular mods for each of the main types of mods available for TESIV here: http://tescosi.com/wiki/Oblivion:Types_of_Mods

There are plenty of other great mods not on that list, but that somewhere you could start. Also, definitely, definitely grab the Unofficial Oblivion Patch and the updates (Supplementals), which are linked near the top on that page.

CallMountStableMaster <-- finally, make use of the stable in battlehorn castle
Frostcrag reborn <-- super cool mod, quest, dungon, and make frostcrag even better
Lost spire <--- best quest mod ever made for oblivion (the one with the best voice acting i ever saw, good quest, lot of dungon...)
Reznod mannequins <-- show your most precious item in your house... more space in display case after
kvatch rebuilt <-- i have it, but i didn't tried it, but i heard its very very good
Midas <-- lot lot lot lot of new spell, didn't tried it yet, but have it installed, heard a lot of good review. im trying to find everything needed to finally start in midas...

Might as well throw in my generic thing::

Topics like this are insanely common, there's probably more topics like this than there are mods made, and they just keep comming. If you want the most help possible it helps to give as much information, and uniqueness as possible.

Here's my generic written thing for these topics. if you want something specific give more details. I ask some questions in the below text as a small guide line:

Lists and resources for finding many popular mods, and some good mods:
(note the distinction between the two, don't just follow mindless peer pressure, try and make your own opinions and find what you'll like)

If you want any further help I suggest you tell us about yourself; what you like and what you're looking for... Here's some questions to get you started:

Have you played Oblivion already?
What sort of things interest you?
What type of Character do you usually play? (good/evil, theif/mage, roleplayer/random-no-story-hack-and-slasher?)
Are there specific types of mods you think would interest you? (Quests, graphic mods, gameplay mods, overhauls, etc.)
When did you leave?
What did you not like about Oblivion? What did Oblivion not have or need more of?
Male or female character?

My generic thing are insanely common, there's probably the same number of topic like this than the number if time i used it, and i just continue to repeat the same thing to everyone.
[Off]

But like he said, you need to give more detail... there is like NO DETAIL on what you want. Contrary to other, i don't ask 10000[...]00 details, but at least, just say something like: I want my game have a better look, i want tweak to make game feel... more real, i want a totally different game, i want to keep the game almost like vanilla, but i want to enhance it or anything like that.

The way you formulated it, you said: graphical improvement, tweak, balance, bugfix, etc
Formulated that way, its like if you just didn't wanted to formulated that way: Any category of mod, since you used {etc}.

Since it was unclear for what exactly you where looking for, i gave a list of some popular mod, but we can't help you more without detail.

Can't help you much there, I'm not much of a graphics mod user; let's see... off the top of my head some stuff not mentioned yet:

Darn UI (For UI)

Unique landscapes as already mentioned, map marker overhaul

all natural, immersive interiors, liquid water, losing my religion

keychain, Hear No Evil, and that's about all I can think of off the top of my head, not including some of the already mentioned mods.
