Gore edition

Post » Mon Jul 11, 2011 4:58 am

1st idea is a gore edition. there are quite a few people i think (including me) who love the gore and the guts and blood everywhere. bethesda should make a gore edition of the game for those people, dismemberment, ripping organs out, slashing blood guts EVERYWHERE. but it is just an idea and a good one to.

2nd idea: addon should be becoming ruler of a new empire. designing the armour they wear what race the guards are. take over territories, make taxes deal with rebellions all sort of things like that.

:tes: love

FOR GOD'S SAKE! The Dovahkiin is not the same as the Septim Bloodline.

EDIT: I am not impressed by your ideas. If I wanted Gore, I'd play Postal 2 :hubbahubba:

As for Gore: No, if you want "blood and guts" go play your FPSs or wait for a mod. I can't understand why people think blood and guts are cool, if you have seen anything remotely close to the level of gore depicted in games these days you wouldn't think it was 'cool'.

Also being Dragon Born != being a Septim. The Empire has dissolved and being an emperor is not in the spirit of TES.

gore is a stupid thing to have in a game, and i feel it adds nothing to the game itself...

oh, and what Nyleken said.

I'm not big on the whole "gore" thing... If you want gore, perhaps this isn't the game for you....

Eh, if I want to indulge myself in some fantasy style gore and dismemberment, I'll just go read Berserk.
When it comes to video games the gore often loses any visual impact it might have, and just delves into the realm of being comical. The dismemberment in Fallout 3 and New Vegas were so overdone and rampant, for example, that I found myself no longer caring for them after awhile. It just gets old after the twentieth time you shoot some poor sod's head off with your tiny revolver.

As for going back to Cyrodill to become Emperor,I doubt the current hierarchy would appreciate that. They've moved beyond the Septims, and all Dragonborns, by this point, and I doubt they would be eager to bring back an old regime when the Dragonborn are no longer necessary to keep Oblivion from merging with Nirn.

I love gore but to come out with a gore edition is so many wasted resources. They would have to cop the game to a disc then add all that stuff to it and sell it separately..It is not a smart marketing strategy at all they would waste resources and money..bad idea

There's not really a particularly workable idea in the OP anywhere. "Gore Edition" is too much resource expenditure for a niche market that won't pay for itself, and any form of ruling/starting a new empire is TES VI material.

I don't want to be Emperor, that would seriously [censored] lore up for the next games. As for gore edition, as others have said, it's a waste of resources.

I'm afraid I voted 'no'. Regarding the gore, it's for two reasons. One is the entirely selfish reason that I personally don't like a lot of gore, and it would be a bit odd for me to vote in favour of something I actively dislike. That is a very weak reason, since the OP isn't suggesting that it be foisted on all players, nor that it even detract from development of the core game. I assume it would be DLC or expansion pack, purchasable by those who want it and so paying for itself - that part of the idea I like. My second reason for voting against gore is that if it were as extreme as the OP is implying I think it would generate rather too much controversy for Bethesda, and would cement in the minds of non-gamers (and most legislators) that gamers are a bunch of blood-thirsty juveniles, which isn't a cliché we want to be promoting.

I voted no for the 'ruler' of an empire idea simply because it sounds like it's an entirely different genre of game, closer to an RTS or Civ style game. I think that to do this idea justice would need Bethesda to do an entirely separate game, probably using a different type of game engine. If it were done as a stand alone game I reckon there might be a lot of people who'd love it, as TES lore could easily support a very detailed and complex empire building game :).

I love gore, but I don't think it's the best idea in the world to release another edition that simply increases the gore... If you want more gore, play on the PC and mod it.

No, on both counts. If there's going to be gore, it'd be more viable to make it a setting in the base game. A separate edition is a complete waste of time and money.

As for the second...there's a world of difference between being a lone adventurer righting (or committing) wrongs across the countryside, which is what these games have always been about, and an emperor ruling said countryside, which this series has never supported. This is not a sim, this is not a strategy game, and nor should it attempt to be. And frankly, I'm opposed to ascending to become leader of the guilds, as has been tradition, for the same reason.

I know its probably frusturation whenever people say this but I don't really have much else to say:

"Get it for the PC"

The second idea is something I always liked, but not the way you said it. More like in oblivion - Shivering Isles. Im very worried that Skyrim is going to only have DLC and not expansion packs though :(

In my opinion, gore is an extremely childish request. There is already finishing moves, which is as cartoon as I hope this series ever gets.

As for the 2nd idea, go play Total War. TES isn't an RTS franchise.

Right, because gore belongs more in a FPS than in a game where people are swinging swords and axes around.

gore mod? in skyrim? no thanks, I believe the game will be as gory as it SHOULD be.

if you desire gore, play god of war, gears of war, mortal kombat etc.

although I would like to become a barbarian king ie. (conan style) I believe oblivion had some leadership elements in it that they could improve on in the guilds and such, ie. becoming "master" of the fighters guild.

becoming leader and stuff like you proposed sounds way too much like fable 3, and i want as less fable in my tes as possible

I really want some gore (including dismemberments), but a gore switch option would be fine...

If you don′t want gore, just keep it off.

But i′m sure that this level of gore we will have only with mods :sadvaultboy:

yes. it does. some explosions will literally tear people to shreds. you dont see war vets missing limbs because someone came at them with an axe. bullets have the possibility to put fist sized holes in people take off limbs and blow out skulls. 50.cal rounds can rip things in half.
gore has a much more significant place in an FPS than it does in an RPG. hands down.

Yea that or play some Rise of the Triad.

Anyway, I dont want more gore, look what happened to movies with too much gore, you lose interest, its not even something realistic in terms of dynamics really. What I would want is something more palitable, or realistic, I mean I go and do that finish move where my knife pierces the inside of their stomach, up close and personal I want to see a little spert from the chest cavity, maybe some blood decals on my monitor, and a ooze of blood that coats the dagger or knife that goes in.

I dont want one of those sick twisted graphic novel experiences where I cut into an enemy and a massive spray of blood rains across the battlefield, If i want that I'll play Rise of the Triad, or Duke Nukem 3D.

What would be completely awesome is seeing cuts and slashes on enemies as you carve into them, that would make my day, and subsequently, on myself, at least til I heal myself, a real experience is not seeing a bloody view when your mortally wounded, its zooming out to a 3rd Person Mode, and seeing blood drip from all over yourself, as deep cuts and gashes can be seen across your body.

A gore addition lol do ppl make new profiles and just post common argument back up for [censored]z n giggles ever once in a while? Haven't seen one on guns fancy making one anybody 'no' silence is that?!

Back on topic you want a special version with more gore of tes not of some game ment to be messy like I can see you wanting a gore version of gears of bore for example but tes really?!

I'll like undead to dismember az you chop would be cool to have zombies and skeletons keep a coming with no head and one arm ect but living stuff maybe ultra rarly living stuff too it's not to ez to chop up a body, speaking from exsperince of course, carful children that's what play video games and listening to rap music can do to you, but think you could lop of the odd head or arm with a powerfully sword strike.

I'd like realistic gore (if it can be counted as gore). I want to be able to hack bodies into pieces or do some serious visible injury but limbs or heads dont really come off in real fights. I'd have to really hack limbs or head if I want to dismember it. But I'm all for blood and visceral battle. That adds realism which adds immersion which is the biggest reason I play rpgs. Fallout 3 and New Vegas had gore so over the top that it just broke immersion. Even with the weapons those games had it should be extremely rare. Realistic blood and gore could be toggled off though if someone doesnt like them.

As to being an emperor or ruler I'd love that but it wouldnt work in TES. First of all it would be too much work and secondly it would probably [censored] up lore. But if it was done really well and in depth (not Fable style) then I'd love it. Just wouldnt probably work in TES.
