Playing as a BARD

Do you hope playing as a BARD will be a viable rolepaly style? (ie live a life doing nothing but playing songs in taverns and earning a living to buy you food, a house and a wife?)

Living a life like that won't kill the dragons, so I think I'll pass on that one xD

I'm going to play as a bard... but a badass, dragon-killer bard. He sings about himself!

I think the previous posters have hit on the main issue - the main purpose of the game is to complete the quest by killing dragons

Why would you even want to do that?

Just grab a cheap guitar from Wal-Derp and go busking on a street corner for booze money.

There you go, real life roleplaying...

As a bum...

Depends on how you see bards. In Fantasy, I see bards as the ultimate JOAT, learning useful tricks and knowledge with each town they pass through. After all, if they're going to retell the greatest stories ever told, they need to live through them first, right?

I could see a bard type character joining a group simply to get to know the members, find out what tales they can share. I could see a bard scavenging ancient ruins, looking for lost bits of lore or ancient artifacts with stories all their own.

A bard can be much more than some spoony guy playing a lute. After all, Loot is generally better than Lute.
