Levelling up Detonation Delay - some queries

Post » Wed Jul 13, 2011 6:03 am

To level it up it says I need to "Delay 50 grenades and survive their explosions"
Does that mean I have to stay in the blast radius of the grenade when it goes off???

Noob answer incoming!
not as far as i know, just have them thrown in your area (crash site is good they arrive around a pod lots and youll be levelling it in no time) just started using it today and im at level 2 already

you hear a sound saying its being delayed, gives you time to run out (or in my case move onto them like a noob) and i assume that counts as delay + survive

Oh. I never heard the sound, but I had quite a few grenades thrown at me during a game of Crash Site and only 1 of them counted. I never heard any special sound :/

You've mentioned kinda missing out on sounds before M4dn3ss. Are your Speakers/Headphones good enough, use a good soundcard?

[Detonation Delay] made easy!

Having already gotten up to [Detonation Delay II] myself, I know exactly how it works in the skill assessments. Basically the module gives you a HUD visual and audio feedback of any incoming grenades, this shows up as a red hexagonal icon when a grenade is thrown your way along with a distance in metres next to it.

What the module does is add two seconds on the end of the frag grenade's fuse, so if you didn't have the module it would just blow up in your face. When it is delays the hexagonal icon should start flashing and a whirring down sound plays telling you that the explosive is delayed and you should get your arse out of there before it blows you up!

This is what it means by delaying grenades, you have to be in it's area of destruction when it's fuse would normally go off, it gets delayed and you have two seconds to get out of it's radius. If you run away from the grenade before the flashing and whirring happens, you have not delayed the grenade and does not count.

Take note that you don't actually have to be ALIVE to make these delayed grenades count, apparently if you delay a grenade and someone else killed you with firearms before the blast touches you, you weren't killed by the grenade and therefore counts for your module upgrades.

Also take note that the way that grenades are delayed, this module stops the pro users from timing their ring-pulls so that their grenades explode the moment they reach their thrown destination, the module adds two seconds to the END of the fuse so you can always rely having that much time to do something about it.

I got that module to rank III and I love it when I'm playing an objective role. You need to hear the sound of the grenade in order to get it counted or the sound of C4 in the case of rank II. So if you see a grenade tossed at you, and it's about 6-9m away, just stay in the blast radius and then wait for the sound and then move out, don't worry, you'll have time.

i've got it to rank iii, and saw its anti-Jaw powers... i tested it out with another guy in the forum...

it was quite hilarious, the jaw will just swerve upwards into the sky when it reaches you, like as if you got some kind of magnetic powers.

Unfortunately at longer range, the jaw still hits you, i'm not sure why or if its supposed to do that.

Someone should make a short vid on how det delay 3 works against jaw.. i dont think there's any vids on that online... maybe you can do it when ur free SDub

Here's another question on the Detonation Delay module (I use it actively in Crash Site, but am still wondering): is it supposed to delay the explosion for your teammates in the vicinity as well? Simple logic would say 'yes', but what are your speculations & observations?

If the nade or C4 is within your delay radius, then it gives you roughly a 2 second delay. The explosion radius of C4 can be slightly larger than your delay radius. When the nade explosion is delayed, everyone, yourself, friends or foe, can dodge the grenade.

The JAW goes off in a random direction because the nano suit deploys chaff, (no clue where thats stored), which throws off the jaw's targetting.

It seems Detonation Delay highlights grenades that are nowhere near me

lvld mines ages ago very easy to do in crash site city hall, just kept playing the same map over till it was done, turn speakers or headphones up and you will hear a high pitched noise when a nade is closing in , soon as you hear the noise get outa there pronto. easy peasy now if only i could do air stomp as easy.
