The Elder Scrolls: Sci-fi Edition

eh, that just seems implausible. and without the lack of resources from the other nations, no race would be able to develop technology needed to attain space flight.

Um... there was a Space Station in the 3rd era, until a battlemage blew it up trying to escape.

Besides, the OP already said he was thinking of breaking the provinces into separate planets.

Also, what province-planet couldn't attain Space Flight, which is just a variant of Conjuration magic?

In Daggerfall, the main character went on a Spacewalk.

Heck... you even go exploring distant planets in Oblivion: At least three of them, actually!
Mehrunes Dagon's planet, Sheogorath's planet (Which you become God-Emperor of), and part of Vaermina's planet.

You may have also visited Boethia and Peryite's planets, but they looked like just some colonies on Mehrunes Dagon's planet.

yes, but what im saying is, not each province has ALL the resources needed to attain space flight. Sure, your idea could work, just have my doubts about it is all.
and the hero of daggerfall was teleported there xD

Which one doesn't?

The Hist can do something for Black Marsh.
Valenwood's trees will likely become Spaceship Trees, crewed by Arboreal Astronauts.[trollscience] Because trees turn Carbon Dioxide into Oxygen, and people turn Oxygen into Carbon Dioxide, it has its own atmosphere[/trollscience]
Elsweyr can dig up the spaceships buried deep under the sands. (You know they have them down there somewhere!)
Cyrodiil already has the power to make spaceships and Battlestations, as evidenced by the Battlespire. Or, they can just launch White Gold Tower as their starship. Welkynd and Varla stones can power other spaceship designs.
The Bretons of the Illiac bay can find a way to launch themselves into space like That Guy From Daggerfall did.
The dwemer have already turned themselves into the massive Spaceship-robot Numidium. Hammerfell, High Rock, Skyrim, and Morrowind can make Dwemer Spaceships.
And the Altmer can cast "Levitate" and "Space Breathing" to go into space.

Sigil Stones (Essentially Hyperdrive Engines... or actually, more like Improbability Drive engines) could also be used by Anyone to make a Spaceship, and for short distances, conjurours can just cast "Bound Jetpack"

...We could even play as Daedric/Alien races!

Protip: Battlespire and Oblivion already are Science-fantasy TES games.

hahahahaha!!!! of course! xD but really, all of those combined would make some badass spaceships. but you cant get them all together if theyre on different planets. However, in theory, one could just build a wooden platform and levitate up with alteration, but the non magical races would be left out.

and the alien/deadric race idea would be cool

Maybe the lore that shatters Nirn could also put Mazken, Aureals, and Dremora all on the same level as the "mundane" races

And I was talking about how they can all get into space independently of each other. And Sigilstones on a boat are a simple, universal way.

Heck... maybe Valenwood gets blasted to pieces entirely, and reduced to massive, verdant Space Hulks that they can guide. I think that would be really cool for them.

And Orsinium was a massive Battlestation-Spaceship all along! Search your heart, you know it to be true!

but how the hell would they get a Sigil stone?

how about we just have all TES lore except Sci-Fi it. For instance the provinces have always been separate planets and Tiber Septim sent a fleet of starships to invade the planet of Akavir, etc. That kind of stuff.

That way we don't have to lose any history of background knowledge, just alter it to a sci-fi universe context.

The oblivion realms could be alternate dimensions that lay under the dimension of "Tamriel" therefore "sub-space" FTL drives would be plausible and also allow for the lore on the OB crisis to be plausible.

Not as fun as "Bending" Nirn around Magnus.

of course, the Akaviri planets are still out there!

And how do people get Sigil Stones? Read Liminal Bridges. Conjuration magic is the #1 way. In this case, though, instead of creating Stargates, we're making Warp Drives with them.

I got two ideas.

1: Each continent in Nirn should turn into a solar system. Like tamriel cam be a system of nine planets and Akavir 4.

2: not a good idea but maybey have US (earth) came in contact with the tamriel solar system. Though that could be strange and not a good idea it could work well..

I actually have a lot of stuff written up for a sci-fi universe I was creating if you guys want to look at it and get some ideas for ways we could transform TES into Sci-Fi.

If this were to ever happen, I'd be there in a flash. Sci-fi is awesome.
