Dragon-Bored

Post » Wed Jul 13, 2011 9:46 am

(Don't beat me over the head with an ES bible, please. This is just my opinion.)
I feel sorry for those who actually enjoyed playing as an Argonian because being called "Dovahkiin...DRAGONBORN!" can't be as fun when you're a giant lizard-man. You know what I mean? Dude, you're a giant lizard-man.
Khajiit people might not suffer as much, but still...you're a cat person.
IMO, its way cooler to not look at all like the power you have. Human.
(Except when you're a superhero. Thats when its cool. But, at the same time, you cant actually BE that power. Batman is bat-like, but doesn't...you know...drink blood? He isn't furry and beastly, is what I'm getting at.
Spider-man, he catches thieves just like flies, but doesn't have eight legs and a thousand eyes! (Unless you count that one time...))

I'd like to give you a moment to...
No! Not my face!!!

YOU are the giant-lizard-cat-person, sir.

EDIT: MEHHH ill write something on topic so i wont get banned, tho I don't get the topic much. I think its fine, whatever race you are. Since you are not really a son of a dragon it doesnt matter how you look like, you just have the soul of a dragon.

That was actually what I was looking forward to, being an Argonian Dragonborn, I find it would be amusing to play as an Argonian with that title. also be prepared for "Argonians aren't dragons/reptiles they're tree people things" comments.

Ha ha, nice! You're right. I never played as either an Argonian or Khajiit...I can't feel that close to a character that looks like one of my pets, lol. It's gotta look mostly human IMO.

Wait, I have a farm now? Does it come with animals? Does it come with equipment? Is there a grain silo? Are there rabbits, Chark? I want to tend the rabbits! Also, where did you get a nickle from? Did you find the nickel on the ground? Did I give you the nickel? Is that how I got the farm?

Edit: and yes, tree people, Argonians Descended from the Hist, a race a sentient trees, and also now, a sub-species of Argonians, they also have a sort of "hive mind" thing going on with each other, with the Argonians following the Hist's orders. The Hist also changes how thew Argonians look, depending on how many times they "lick" it, when they come of age. So yes, "Tree People".

I may have been too "Biased"?(Hope I'm using that right.)
I've always played as a human dude, and never an Orc or Khajiit...or Twigman.

Soul of a dragon sounds good. The whole "-Born" thing must've thrown me off this whole time :)

Um...yes? But I heard rumor of Dragons passing over that land for three nights straight! My goat...he said he saw the blaze from his window.

And the nickle? A metaphor for...good will towards men...Not Twigmen.

So you're saying that the awesome feeling one gets when they realize their power as a Dragonborn would be less if they were playing as an Argonian because they're already a unique creature, so the impact wouldn't be as great?

If so, I agree. I also don't understand those who play as them dominantly. I can see trying them once, but playing as mostly or only Argonians just seems odd to me. I cannot relate to Argonians. I can only imagine that people who play as Argonians dominantly do very little roleplaying as their character and don't take the game very seriously from a roleplaying/immersion standpoint to begin with. One can only get so far away from reality before it becomes impossible to roleplay.

I panicked. I was just throwing stuff out as I went...I didn't think I had much time, so I made it up. Sorry!

OT: Lemme get this straight...Argonians are tree people. During their "Rite into manhood", they lick a big tree...and that makes them more or less tree-like? Then...why they...
okay, I give up.

So whats the deal with Khajiit? Does anyone have any thoughts on them being DragonBorn?

Why people play as Argonians, summed up in three points

1. They can breathe underwater

2. Highly resistant to disease and poison

3. They just look plain badass

I second that, my main reason for picking them are points 1 & 2

And as far as RP-ing goes, I like to make up full backstories to my character, sometimes try to make them an everyday person, and do take the game (and my role playing as my character) seriously. So I think I do a pretty good at playing as an Argonian :D just my opinion though

Right. So nothing to do with roleplaying at all in there. Just gameplay mechanics.

During the rite into man(or women)hood, they lick the hist, which depending on how much they lick it determines how, for a lack of better word, how "beast" or "lizard" like they become. Some of the final quests in the Fighters Guild in OB feature the Hist. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Argonian

On Khajiits, they were elves, until Azura(I think?) transformed them, there's a bit more to it, but I can't remember, the lizard-tree-people things are, well, my thing. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Khajiit

Because gameplay mechanics aren't debatable opinions, they're facts. The third might be roleplaying though

I wonder if racism against Argonians will increase due to their likeness being comparable to dragons? That'd be interesting.

HAHA nice expressions.

Well I can't say to much about the Argonians since I've only played one for about one quest(the escaping the sewer).
But I've been playing with only Khajiit characters for about a year or two now. and I can't see myself playing any other race for a long time. I decided I won't even go Nord when Skyrim comes out.
For me Playing TES is all about RP over the race advantages(why I didn't stick with the lizard king) I could care less about races advantage. I also use only Mage classes so if I wanted to be a better mage I could have been a tree hugger but decided the cat man were more interesting. and besides if I'm going to live in a world of dragons, I might as well be a cat man.

By "One" you mean yourself right? It's your severe lack of imagination mate, don't bring everyone else into it. I think you will find quite the opposite, most casual players will choose humanoid characters because they want to look like the Dragonborn that Bethesda has shown them in concept art. They have a lack of imagination. This thread actually has a lack of imagination, so OP i'm not surprised your bored.

If I want to play as an Argonian I will invent a backstory and roleplay it. Something like - Stolen at birth, trained as an assassin, special in someway but no one can put there finger on it, resents it, runs away swearing never to kill again, flees to morrowind, kills, heads over the boarder to Skyrim, gets caught. Pretty generic but can be flushed out.

But yeah if you guys are onto something why do we bother to choose races at all??? Lets just have one race per game?? Yeah?

I don't know what your sources are, but very few bats actually drink blood.

Also, there's no reason being a lizard man would make it less significant that you are a dragon born.
