Hi, im currently looking for new upgrades for my pc which runs vista =( but im looking for help on upgrades. i recently just ordered 4x2gb ram more of ram to increase to max to 8gb. but i need help on if i need to upgrade my processor or not. and help on a new graphics card.

currently stock i have 32bit but probably going to purchase W7.
3gb ram +5 coming.
amd athalon 64 x2 dual core processor 5600+ 2.8ghz
nvidia geforce 6150se nforce 430 card

im looking in 400$ range so any ideas on what upgrades
i would really would like a quad core to run smoothly but feel free to give any suggestions within my budget. thanks =)

i was going to say that. the amd phenom II series. amd has true cores vs intel muiltreading cores. so it depends on what he wants to use. if your look for a amd system that would be the best bet. the amd phenom II series cpu. the GTX 560 i need to buy that card man i am on the gtx 460 1gddr5 card. but i really want to wait for the GTX 660 future card release. then i will see a big difference. from the gtx 460 series card.

sorry man i was off topic. yes go get that computer. that is a over clock heaven. i dont over clock so. i would recommend the same cpu but the 840 one. if he does not want to over clock and just game.

oh remember to pay attention to the max TPD if its under the max that the board needs it will lower the power down and take some of the speed away.

The Athlon 64 x2 may not exactly be built for todays gaming, but it's infinitely more up to the job than the geforce 6150se. That card won't even play half life 2.

thats **** and i would know that. games ran bottlenecks every time i started the game. after i went to 16gb of system ram it was stable.

also games not run fast. but i am going to upgrade my cpu real soon. and see how much 16gb in my system does with the cpu. i may not have to upgrade my video card.

To give a different perspective there's always AMD which is the more cost effective approach. I personally use intel myself but here's another perspective.

CPU: Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition ~$120
GPU: Radeon 6850 (basically an underclocked 6870) ~$140
Mobo: ASUS M4A88TD ~$130

That's about $390 plus shipping. I based my info off of previous knowledge and also tomshardware forums.

the GTX 560 needs more power its a 450w. plus that cpu is 125w dont for get your ram needs power from the mother board too. also the dvd rom and what other stuff you need. its best to get a 900w or even a 1000 for system balance.

Nonsense. A good quality 500W-600W PSU is good enough for a single card(it's only a 560). People generally go way too much on PSU wattage and a GTX560 Ti only uses about 265W full load.

im upgrading.

Ram is cheap so go for as much as you can afford. Crysis 2 +High res textures +DX11 uses over 3GB of ram. You'll need a 64bit OS to take advantage of it as well.

you mention you are only running 32bit at the moment. this will only see and use roughly 3.1gb of ram
you will defo need 64bit operating system to get the full potential of ram upgrades.
8gb will be fine and will keep you going for a few years.
