Crysis 3: New Crysis installment to be unveiled
Fresh from the successful rollout of Crysis 2, the series’ developer, Crytek, announced that it is looking to continue the franchise. Who knew? Video games are just like movies. It is easier to build on a previously successful brand than having to start from scratch each time. It doesn’t even take spectacular success for an initial outing to ensure some level of success for a sequel. Dragon Age 2 is proof of this principle. So it isn’t surprising that Crytek decided to move forward with a possible Crysis 3.
According to Avni Yerli, Crytek’s Managing Director, “[W]e’re looking to continue Crysis somehow. We have not said anything publicly yet, but maybe soon we will make something more public on the Crysis franchise. It is a very important franchise for Crytek, however any future plans, we have not revealed yet, but be assured there will be some new things.” You just gotta love these types of press statements. It’s not even a teaser. It is more along the lines of “Just saying things to keep our brand on the radar and keeping a platform open to build future hype on.” Given its success, a Crysis 3 has a more than even shot of being made. We’ll just have to wait until GamesCom 2011 to see if there are further developments regarding this “story.”
