Robot faction

Post » Sun Jul 17, 2011 1:53 am

How about a faction made of robots who are designing and producing other robots to add to their ranks? Maybe their goal is world domination, or to help mankind, or just to stay alive. Makes robots more interesting than the current damaged robots running around the wasteland with no mindset other than kill.

I haven't played FO Tactics, so was this what the Calculator did?

Sort of, he mass produced tons of robots.

I had an idea for a facility that had tons of robots and was run by them. It's in the suggestions thread, which this should be in too.

The robo-brains developed self awarness and programmed the protectrons to harness solar rays to increase the effects of their lasers and created a completely new body structure enabling them to run, grab, punch and kick. Special elite "Servitrons" have jetpack like systems and missile launchers installed allowing them to use arial attacks with devastating effect ....... Could you imagine

Kind of like Robco with the Masterbrain? He was just following orders and not running the show, at least I think.

Edit: whoops, Masterbrain was in Vault-Tec HQ, not Robco facility.

The Calculator was built to be the super computer of Vault Zero. It has human brains linked to the computer. Due to cut backs while building, back up systems were not put into place. My theory was that the Enclave were the ones behind the cut backs, that they wanted it to fail.

Anyways, when the great war happened the Calculator failed. There was an army of Robots that were to be used to pacify the wasteland (not all of America). When the Calculator became active due to super mutants trying to get into Vault Zero, it took control of the Robots. It begain to start the pacification protocols. The Robots came across a pre-war nuclear plant as well as pre-war manufacturing plant. Using the two to build even more robots.

Midwestern Brotherhood, won out over the Calculator. The canon ending to Tactics is not known.

Wasn't the Enclave the government at that time?

The Enclave were a small group that was very powerful. They were the defacto puppet master government but they were secret. It was not like America Voted for the "Enclave Party."

Their true goals for the Vault program were not known to the American people or most of the American government. They had the Enclave Oil Rig which was secret to run the vault experiments but they would need a place to be the public face of the Vaults. Others in the government would want such a place as Vault Zero. Enclave not giving a crap about the American people or the government would make sure they take as much away from Vault Zero as possible. It failing is a good thing for them. They take money meant for the Vault and spend it on secret Enclave things. Vault fails and they no longer have to worry about the rest of the government.

There's conflcting theories about what exactly the Enclave was pre-war, if they were anything at all.

I hold that the Enclave didn't really exist, and was mearly a type of "codeword" for the alliance that existed between corporations and like-minded individiuals within the American government.

On Topic: I love the idea of a robot army being control by an AI or something similar, but thats basically what the calculator was. I'd like to see what became of the calculator and the MWBOS in Fallout 4 though.

The Calculator controlled and built (adding new robots) an army of robots. The Robots were originally for the people of Vault Zero to pacify the wasteland. When the calculator started working it started to run the pacification protocol. In short the Calculators robots started killing every living thing they came across.

The Enclave in my mind was a secret organization of powerful people that were very anti-communist and had some very messed up ideas, extreme ones as we all know. I don't believe they were an official secret government. They were just people in high places with power. The puppet masters behind the scenes.

I would also love for the Calculator and the Midwestern BoS to be in Fallout 4 or some mention of Vault Zero/Calculator. Most of all I want there to be General Barnaky.

Did it exist as an offical club, probably not. But I don't think that "Enclave" was a codeword, I think that "Enclave" is the actual name of the Oil Rig, and was then later adopted by its inhabitants to describe themselves (much like you might identify yourself as a New Yorker, or a Bostonian)

I don't necessarily mean that it was literally used as a codeword, I think the same as you do that the "Enclave" used the name of the Oil Rig (Control Station Enclave) once they were on it. I wasn't saying that people were actually saying "Psst....Enclave" to each other.

I mean it in the sense that the the Enclave existed only as whisper between House and Senate members and in backroom deals. It was a loose alliance of like-minded individuals in other words, not a "club" but simply people with the same agenda working together to achieve their political goals and working within the structure of the U.S. government, but that didnt' exist seperate from it.

Okay, presuming both the existence of the Illuminati in Fallout's universe (and there is no evidence of it....) and it being on the same scale as RW consipracy tales go, = I think it would be inconcievable that there wouldn't be some overlap between the two groups. However I doubt they are one and the same, and think the "Enclave Consipracy" (as I refer to the pre-war group) is Conspiracy enough for that era of fallout.

No, I don't think so. The Enclave was just a collection of Elite from the American military industrial complex and corporate/government sectors.

I stopped short of calling them the Illuminati in my other posts.

Since you started a topic about this question here: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1209962-illuminati-in-fallout/, I responded there :foodndrink:
