Leave Nuka Quartz and Victory alone!

Post » Sun Jul 17, 2011 5:26 am

Damn npcs eat away all da good stuff! They drink away all the nuka quartz and victory and eat all sugar bombs! Well, enough is enough! I tried making them ignore the damn food, but instead of ignoring food, they are ignoring my directives. So here goes - scripts running directly on food, preventing npcs from picking up my stuff! It's a very simple script that simply checks who interacts with an ingestible object and prevents npcs from picking it up. Doesnt work on food in containers, but works fine on stuff simply lying around. Check this out, some ass trying to pick up an drink away my sweet nuka quartz:

Haha, not any more, my friend! This bottle refuses to be picked up. Ok, so this is not the best idea, cause it gets the AI into an eternal loop, where NPCs try to pick up the object again and again, although at some point they give up, but I must admit I am out of ideas. But you know, I was so angry with these damn npcs eating away my stuff, I actually told nuka quartz to kill the guy who tried to pick it up:

Yeah?!!! Yeah?! You like it? That will teach you to mess around with my food! HAHA! Nuka quartz is dangerous! Stay away!

I have never actually witnessed a NPC eat or drink anything in the game. I guess I have never paid attention. I'm curious as to why you would store stuff where NPC's roam? Why not at your safehouse?

Not to take away from your creative and humorous solution, but I'm a little confused by:

I tried making them ignore the damn food, but instead of ignoring food, they are ignoring my directives.

To my knowledge, all you'd have to do is go through all the sandbox AI Packages (Character/Packages for whole list) for generic npc's and uncheck the "Eating" box. No extra script necessary. Granted, there are quite a few AI packages to open & uncheck, but if it's really bugging you that much... :)

I always steal stuff like Quartz and Victory because If I don't take it, some dumb NCR trooper will.

Dude, you do realize there is a perk to make unlimited amounts of Nuka Victories /Quartz / Ice Cold Nuka Colas?

Combined with the fact that you can create Nuka Colas. I've had characters with 50+ Nuka Victories and 100 Ice Cold Nuka Colas.

Oh look at what we have here! Some rich Courier bragging about his stash of Nuka Colas, as if we could just craft them or something.

Go to Nellis AFB, inside the mess hall there is a kitchen. There is tons of food, and drink in there. Once I was trying to steal all the food and water, but the damn Boomers kept eating the food, and drinking the water, faster than I could steal it.

This happened to me at the Mojave Outpost. Was trying to steal a Quartz and some Trooper came up and took it. Needless to say the Trooper won't be seeing his squad again. :spotted owl:

He's a fairy tale. The Imperial Watch pretends there is a thief king named the Gray Fox who controls all the thieves in Cyrodiil. Of course it's all just made up to give them an excuse to keep us down
