Housing in Primm?

Post » Tue Jul 19, 2011 8:27 am

I have just started a new character for the first time in a while and I was trying to find some sort of housing in the game that isnt rentable or has to be earned. Now I know that there is a house in goodsprings but i was looking at the ones in primm and thought that they would work better. I looked on the wiki and none of the houses in Primm were in the the incidental housing list but in game the beds in some of the houses are unowned. Also I know that the sheriffs house/office is ownable but I would prefer one of the houses.

So anyway are the houses in Primm suitable for inhabitace? Do the Storage containers, fridges etc. reset?

Why do people have houses? whats the point? To store things? You can just give it to your companions or sell it.

The rooms in the Bison Steve might be safe to store things in (if you don't mind all the loading screens).

The Primm houses, IIRC, are all "owned" - that is, all the containers are marked as owned/have red text - except the mailboxes outside, and all mailboxes do tend to respawn once or twice (so not safe). This means every time you open them and take something out, you get a neg. karma hit. This applies, last I knew, to stuff you put in them, not just the original stuff. So basically, while I don't believe the containers will respawn, every time you fiddle with inventory/remove stuff, your karma will drop. Also, if the townspeople ever return to their homes and see you "stealing", it might be a problem. Not sure about that one, I've never gone back to those houses to see if they start sleeping there once they leave the saloon.

Some people dont use companions...some don't even ever hire them. Some like to collect things, because, well, to them it's fun and something to do in the game.

My advice: Go to nipton.

There's a house (I believe it has a handprint on the door) with all sorts of odds ends, a bed, a work bench, a safe, a fridge, a campfire nearby, and a legionary to kill and put in your bathtub.

Pretty sure if no NPCs are there to take it, storage never resets.

I've never lost anything in such a way anywhere in FONV.
