Brush Gun. am i missing something?

Post » Tue Jul 19, 2011 7:01 am

OK so Ive had the brush gun for quite a while now, and Ill be honest with you. I think its terrible. I never seem to be able to hit anything (in VATS or free aim) and even then it doesnt seem to kill anything with one hit ( it couldnt even kill a raider dog point black with a headshot). As well as this the bullets seem incredibly slow. Am I missing something here? is there a technique I should be using? DONT SAY ITS MY GUN SKILL, because that is at 100. If not I shall be going back to my trusted trail carbine.

It's be seen to one-shot Deathclaws, you're doing it wrong.

I have noticed the same thing with it, in vats or out it seems to misss more than the trail carbine or anything else really. Im not sure why, but it is way more powerful when you do get hits. I get many more one shot kills with it.

NPCs use it real well. Give it to one of you followers and use the trail carbine. I ve thought about droping back to the trail carbine myself.

It is'nt a very good gun. Theres rarely any ammo for it. It freaks out in vats. When it does hit right it hits hard but the ammount of times it actually does hit right is tiny. It is'nt worth keeping .
In vats I have seen it fail completely to hit blatantly obvious slowmoving targets. Sometimes it does'nt even work in vats. It just turns into a long hellish no hitting sequence that freezes the game and forces you to reload! Point blank it's useless.
I say sell it or throw it out. Lots of better guns out there.

It's a bit less accurate, but it isn't supposed to be a sniper rifle, its a medium range powerhouse weapon. Whats the condition of your weapon?

yeah I think thats what Ima do. I could easily get enough ammo for it (240 rounds+) including HP's. also, whats your opinion on the trail carbine scope. I carry 2 trail carbines at the mo'. one has the scope and the other doesnt. the scope is so-so but i dont think it needs one. your thoughts?

In answer to above posts, It is in Full condition with forged reciever and I was shooting at some raiders about 40 paces away- who were stationary

My self, I keep all weapons in very good shape, or 100%. I use the lever action weapons as a default sprint through the wastes weapon.

I expect them to be more accurate at the longer end of mid range than the m1, sevice rifle, or survivalist rifle, but I think the survivalist rifle is more accurate out of vast at long mid range shots than the brush gun. I continue to use the Brush gun anyway, because I hate not having a roll for it.

In real life they may not be as good as an m1 or m16 at range. I ll check.

I actually think the trail carbine is better without the scope, because even with it you really can't zoom in far enough to snipe from extremely long ranges and if your just sticking to mid range then its better to just use the iron sites. But as far as the brush gun goes the thing is insanely good if you've got the gun skill to use it right, if you take the sniper and commando perks then you can headshot people left and right with it, and lack of ammo really isn't a problem because everything goes down in just one or two shots anyway.

???

The Brush Gun is five flavors of overkill on any difficulty setting below Very Hard when set up right. I'm guessing you didn't pick up the Cowboy perk, are firing standard ammo, and have well below 100 skill in guns.
