Morrowind Enhanced - Not Working

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 7:49 am

I want to do costum journal entries and write my own books for my RPing experience. I downloaded Morrowind Enhanced (MWE), put everything in the right folder ect. When I run the .exe it pops up like normal. I check the 2 files in Data Files (MWE_Writing.esp and MWE_Base.esp) and I start Morrowind. Problem is, when I load up my character, the an error comes up saying:

Script MWE_LoadScriptTrying to RunFunction index greater than function countThe script will not run anymoreContinue Running executable?

then after I push yes this error comes up:

Morrowind Enhanced.exe is NOT loaded. Please quit MW and run it before loading the game.

also, an error pops up for MWE.exe (on the desktop, not in the game). It says:

Couldn't find version size.

Your Morrowind version is not supported.

The only patch I have is the Unofficial Patch 1.6.3 and the latest Bloodmoon patch (needed for MGE).

This is the link to the mod: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Utilities.Detail&id=8
I also tried this MWE before the one I'm using above, and that didnt work either: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2576

Please, help is GREATLY appreciated.

So, you're using the dev kit version of MWE (1.6)?
Morrowind Enhanced.exe is and remains running when you start Morrowind?
Can you post your modlist and the contents of your warnings.txt?
Also, IIRC, MWE creates a file "log.txt" in the same directory as Morrowind.exe, its contents may be useful too.

It's been a bit since I used MWE, but aren't you supposed to load Morrowind by running the MWE executable? If you launch Morrowind directly, you're ignoring MWE completely.

Nah, I don't think that matters. I don't know what the problem is. Did you modify your executable in a way that isn't supported, like a crack of some kind? I know MCP works.

Are both the exe and dll. in your morrowind directory or in the same directory? Make sure you are running with admin privileges by right clicking and clicking run as admin or changing your executable or shortcut to it to always run with the proper privileges. Man the way that system works in Vista/7 is so annoying. They need to find a better way to do it that won't allow any program to allow itself on it's own but at the same time let the enduser do it. I mean even if some foreign entity tried to enhance its privileges you would get the message and deny it anyway.

OK, here's my thinking:
I've seen this error "Trying to RunFunction index greater than function count" before when someone is trying to use an MWSE mod with too earlier a version of MWSE.

Which means that MWE_Base.esp (where the MWE_LoadScript script is) can't function. There's this: "Morrowind Enhanced.exe is NOT loaded. Please quit MW and run it before loading the game." which kind of explains why MWE_Base.esp can't function.

So why is MWE not loaded, as you say Morrowind Enhanced is running? Well MWE is saying that "Your Morrowind version is not supported." because it "Couldn't find version size."

To me that means that MWE is looking at the file properties of morrowind.exe and failing to find a version number (it's looking for "1.6.0.1820")

In MS Explorer browse to Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind right-click Morrowind.exe and choose Properties. Look on the Version tab for the "File version" Is it there? Is it "1.6.0.1820"?

How to fix it? Well I guess some idea of how you installed would be good. You say you patched with the Bloodmoon patch, I guess you installed Morrowind > Tribunal > Bloodmoon > Patch?

Do you have the GoTY edition? That, IIRC, includes the 1820 patch. Oh, and are you on Vista / Win7?

I forgot that I'm using Windows 7. I love it and all, but it sure is a pain in the ass when you forget to run things as an administrator. Lol, simple fix, thanks everyone.
