This is sad *A warning for those who want the $10 off S

Post » Tue Jul 19, 2011 3:15 pm

Purchasers should be aware of is that the $10 coupon isn't an instant savings or really a coupon at all but rather a $10 pre-paid VISA Card. Here's some basic information lifted directly from Bethesda:

1. You must purchase a new copy of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the Skyrim Official Strategy Guide for full price of at least $59.89. No discounts allowed.
2. You must have purchased the a game and guide at the same time and shown on the same receipt within a one month window: 11/11/11 - 12/11/11
3. You must cut the UPC label off the 5th Anniversay Edition, Skyrim and the Strategy Guide and mail those in with the original receipt.

Who wants to cut out and mutilate their guide, and game boxes just to get a $10 pre-paid visa card? These cards usually take 6+ weeks to get by the way.

I throw all my game boxes behind the tv once I've opened them and all my games are in a stack next to my playstation. If anyone wants the rebate, they're more than welcome to brave the black widows, white widows and electric scissor bees that live behind my television set to cut the upc symbol off the box.

Otta be considered a scam then since a "prepaid VISA" is NOT a "coupon" by any stretch of the word.

Well, there was a witty comment I wanted to write, but I'm afraid it would take a lot more skill than I have to top this brilliant "special offer for our most desperate customers" joke discussed here.

I, too, was disappointed by the “coupon”.

LMAO

The sad part is, if they offered NO rebate, nobody would care too much. Unless you bought the 5th anniversary JUST for the rebate, in which case I would question your judgement.

The back of your TV sounds like a place full of danger and adventure!

But on topic, if this is true, it has the be the lousiest sale promotion I've seen yet (although I haven't seen too many...)

The whole anniversary edition of Oblivion looks like a rip-off, to me. They didn't include DLC (still no ports for the PS3 version), trophies (PS3 version), and the "coupon" seems disfunctional. They essentially put out the thing to milk whatever they can out of Oblivion before Skyrim's release, but put little effort or actual incentive into it.

Actually they probably make about 10 times that.

I wasn't taking part in the $10 deal to begin with, but reading that, I'd rather just pay full price.
