New Interview from Edge

Obsidian is really really hit-and-miss for me. Alpha Protocol was pretty good and Fallout: New Vegas was better than Fallout 3, but on the other hand, Neverwinter Nights 2 was somehow lessened, and Dungeon Siege 3 was so awful that I cancelled my preorder after playing the demo.

Ill give you three reasons why TES must stay in Bethesda. KOTOR 2, Alpha Protocol, and New Vegas. Ill have trouble buying another game from Obsidian after those. Ill just stick to drinking Obsidian Stout :foodndrink:

I thought you meant 3 reasons against Obsidian?

Absolutely not. No one knows the lore like Bethesda does, it could be a big unnecessary risk to the franchise.

No thank you. New Vegas was a good game but it wasn't memorable. I liked how they upgraded the combat/ammo and stuff like that but in my OPINION I believe that Fallout 3 made from Bethesda made the biggest impact.

I thought NV was better than FO3 so I'd have no problem with giving obsidian a crack at TES.

I too thought NV was better so Obsidian could make a great game. A new Elder Scrolls 5 using the same engine but a different province and new story would be nice.

Creation Engine is new. Everything in the Oblivion engine recoded. It's as much a different engine from Oblivion as Source is from GoldSrc (HL2 and HL1).

I would love it if Obsidian made an expansion pack for Skyrim.

Seeing how i enjoyed Fallout 3 a LOT more than i did New Vegas I really hope Obsidian does NOT make a TES game.

Let them make another spin-off of fallout, but don't touch my Elder Scrolls! :obliviongate:

NO. Obsidian have already ruined Fallout and other titles, they do not know how to make good role playing games.
Most of Obsidian's team come from Interplay which created Fallout, so without those dudes we wouldn't have Fallout,
and Fallout was a good RPG. :sadvaultboy: but I do believe that Obsidian should stick to their Fallout, and if they were to make a TES game, It'd better be something like a spinoff or w/e.
I may be wrong though.
Edit: need to get OT.

gotta agree with the no. New Vegas was terrible from a tech standpoint. the designers have excellent ideas but Obsidians tech savvy is without a doubt bar none the worst on the market. I had to quit New Vegas 20 hours in due to gamebreaking glitches.

Yeah, I personally didnt fall in love with NV like I did FO3. I dobt min obsidian as a company, but I have yet to love a game of theirs. I didnt like NWN 2 as much as NWN1 (even though I loved the companions in comparison to the first one AND I did like it a lot), didnt like NV as much as FO3, everything I have heard about Dungeon Siege 3 hasnt been promising... I dunno, they have to show me that they can make a game from a popular franchise to me that is at least functional at start. I've always had some issues with Bethesda games at start, but I was always able to play out of the box with a little tinkering. Neverwinter Nights 2 and NV however ran like crap and had bugs upon bugs mating with other bugs, worse than any bethesda game I've ever played.

That's actually a really interesting idea.

As I stated above, for various reasons, NV is not a spin-off. If they wanted to be relegated to "spin-offs", they'd be a lot less respected than they are now. Who wants to make something that is immediately not as good as the original simply because it is touted as a "spin-off"?

>.< I mean if they did an elderscrolls 5: black marsh for example, only using the same engine as skyrim.

Technically Fallout 3 was the spin-off.
