I usually play on the "fly" but since I already played MW and OB I got a little background for my Altmer mage :)

All I've got planned is to be an Argonian Thief/Assassin type character. Then base all of the decisions that I would do.

If they have a way for you to reset and rebuild your character, I'll be spending that time making multiple characters.

Of course, if it's like Morrowind, then I guess I'll have to play through the (hopefully short) tutorial over and over again.

What good is planning a character when you make all your choices while playing the game and can change them at any point in time?

Just another reason to hate the removal of classes.

I never knew how seriously people seriously role played their characters. I always played as though it were me, not some character with an imagined "personality", but made my in game "avatar" as beautiful, rich and good as possible. Basically, this means that I spent ages in character creation, and picked up and sold as many in unowned game items as possible. I could summarise it as playing the game as smart as possible and increasing skill as optimally as possible, without resorting to any exploits or console codes (except for when my game actually was broken, as happened to me in Fallout 3 where the game kept crashing in the trouble on the home front quest i.e. return to vault 101).

I'm going to play on the fly. I may have some preliminary ideas as to Race/things to try, but that's about it. Once I see the story I can take it from there.

I'll likely spend my first five hours playing just making new characters over and over.

Me, too. I don't mind stats being hidden, but I don't think the changes will affect my patterns of restarts. I'll still want to experiment, and once I've decided to do something different, I imagine I'll want to start over. I just like clean slates.

Got the works. Race, gender, occupation, prejudices, probable skills used, whole backstory. If by some miracle I can spend less than two hours on face generation, then I'm ready to go.

I'm gonna be a male Imperial spellsword, I'm not creating character backstory, because I still don't understand why people create backstories, what the purpose is.
