MMO could be a possibility but honestly I don't think an MMO will give ES its due....

I think if the technology advances enough the next 20 years they should just make the whole ES planet with some amazing new engaging way of playing where its so realistic people will just abandon reality forever, why in 20 years?? well I would imagine that the economic costs for making all of nirn will be as much as making a single province now.

of course as the startrek-ish technologies rot in government/cultist vaults we just have to make due with what they allow us to use, so ES planet will be a long way ahead
