Transferring files question

Post » Fri Jul 22, 2011 3:37 am

Hey, just a quick question, I know this is very noobish but I'm not really a PC gamer. Is it possible to transfer saves from my character and mods that I have installed onto a new computer? Like for example copy and pasting everything from my old PC to my new one once I install Morrowind onto my new computer(after creating a save file as well) and just re-installing the mods if I have to.

If this is possible for either/or, how can it be done exactly? Thanks.

You can go into your Morrowind directory and finding the saves folder, and then copy them onto a USB. I'm not sure about mods, maybe write down all of the ones you have and re-downloading them.

Yes, mods and saves can be transferred and it's simple to do. I usually back-up my data files folder (where mods and related files are stored) and my save file. I always have these files at least written to a dvd and kept in a safe place, and just update when needed (e.g. for a system format)

There are many ways to do this;

  • Port to port transfer with usb and Easy Transfer with Win 7 or http://www.howtotransferfiles.com/.
  • On-line back-up either with your email server or a specialty service (LiveDrive, Barracuda, etc.).
  • Writing to dvd or cd (easy peasy method).
  • Flash drive (as Jagarn has mentioned).
  • External HD (Western Digital pocket drive for example).
