Why announce a game now, when you're afraid to show it to the public? How about wait a month or two, THEN announce it with a screen and some info. Stupid Bothesda trying to hype up a dumb screenshot and paragraph of info. No one is going to be blown away by the graphics. Maybe do something like this for the next wave of consoles, but not now.
I sincerely doubt they are afraid to show the game now. There will always be exclusives; be it print media or television/G4. I never expected there would not be. You would really have had issues had you been around for the announcement of Oblivion. They announced it October 22, 2004. They announced a definite date when they were sure they would make the date they announced; March 2, 2006. Notice the amount of time.
Bethesda announced the game. I see people getting hyped about the information, but it isn't from what Bethesda is doing. Actually, I feel as though I owe Todd and everyone cookies; they not only announced the new game, they announced the release date, less than a year away, and we won't have to clean up dozens of "I know the real release date because my father's neighbor's second cousin twice removed on his mother's side knows one of the cyberchinchillas that run the servers at Bethesda and he leaked the real date." threads. I was thrilled with the news. I was even more thrilled about the date part. And hyped that it would be less than a year instead of having to wait 2 years.
