Doing the stealth suit upgrade... where the hell are these m

Post » Fri Jul 22, 2011 4:21 am

So I'm doing X-13: Attack of the Infiltrator, where I have to sneak past the Robobrains to upgrade my stealth suit. The thing is, there's apparently proximity mines I have to disable... too bad I can't find them!

Anybody have any idea where the hell these mines ARE?

Yeah they're pretty tricky amongst the clutter.

iirc they're on the ground close to the wall in most cases, but when I did it I was able to rush past some of them so.... :spotted owl:

They are mostly eye-level (while sneaking) and some are on the floor. Another thing to note is that one of the early ones requires you to keep moving forward to eventually disarm them.

They look like Pulse Mines, but have a lot longer range. Of course you can just fail the test and find their positions before trying again.

Of course! It's so simple!

Thanks to everyone else for the slightly more useful tips. I'll have another try and see if I can disarm 'em. ;)

let's seee... of the ones I can remember...

- On a table, in a courner in front of a Robo-Brain Patrol Route, outside of the Easy locked door.
- Just outside the Easy locked door, right along the wall to your right as you go through the door
- In the main room after leving the test start, on top of a bookcase behind the desk to the left of the entrance.
- Following the paith straight from the last Mine, there is another hiding in plain sight in front of a destroyed wall. The mine might blend in with the rubble, but the glowing usually gives it away.
- Right outside the room with the safe, to the right of the door leading to the objective.
- When entering a room full of cubicles, there is a mine hiding behind a desk.

I think thats all of them... hope this helps.

EDIT - Sorry for the late reply, was trying to remember where to find them.

If you have a light step, you don't have to worry about them. :D

And with high repair/science you can disable the laser tripwires. Too bad you can't disable the Robobrains with Robotics Expert.

Still, i did all those test with a character with who i hadn't invested in sneak skill at all (even skill books) and had no great trouble. It'll be dam easy with my heavily sneaky character. Who doesn't need to have the suit upgraded in the first place, come to think of it

They look a little like browish hockey pucks with glowing orange dots. I kept overlooking them, until I finally focused on one and shut it down. It's safer but slow to shut them down, I recommend just maintaining a steady pace forward and mostly ignoring them as long as you don't get held up waiting for some robot to turn around and walk way.
For a decent example, from the terminal where the sneak missions are started, looking left into the next room, a mine is centered behind the desk, you can check it out and defuse it without much hassle.

Yes you can. You just have to be really careful about sneaking up to them because if you get too close they'll detect you. I completed the third upgrade challenge like that, just sneaking up behind the robobrains and pulling the plug.

You can shut them down in the third test without said perk as well, but in either case you have to get pretty close (like, practically running into them) in order to deactivate them.
