Mouse Lag...

Post » Fri Jul 22, 2011 2:52 pm

So, I've been suffering from mouse lag since I got my computer, and it's extremely annoying. At times, the games is almost unplayable. Setting the "maximum pre-rendered frames" option in the nVidia panel to 1 seems to work... untill I enter a big room or run around outside in the wild. Then it lags again untill I go inside.

My laptop is maybe not the best, but I know that it's more than decent to play Oblivion. I have no texture-packs or mods installed whatsoever.

Specifications:

Computer name/model: Acer Aspire 5742ZG

Mouse: LogiTech M305 wireless laser mouse.
DirectX version: 11

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M - 1GB
CPU: intel Pentium P6200 @ 2.13Ghz ~ 2.1(2 CPUs)
RAM: 6GB DDR3
USB: 2.0

I'm finally asking for help after trying to solve this for a while now. It's the only problem with the game I haven't been able to solve...

If you need more information, I'll be checking this often to include it.

Thanks in advance!

With those specs, your laptop should be able to run a maxed out oblivion with a pretty decent framerate in exteriors. You state that you have no mods installed but you should at least give http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23208 a try. Note that you will need http://obse.silverlock.org/ to make it work. Other then giving a big performance improvement it might also solve much of the mouse lag issues you have, provided you configure its .ini correctly.

edit: also, do you happen to have vsync enabled? It's known to cause lag on some systems [you might want to have it enabled if you let OSR manage your average fps].
