Chinese stealth suit field question..

Post » Sat Jul 23, 2011 10:27 pm

I don't know if this has been answered by the Devs or not but was there any reason why the stealth field effect was deleted for New Vegas?

How is a visual effect overpowered? You do realize they could have just gave it the visual effect with giving any more stealth bonuses?

I love how they went from one extreme to the other, Overpowered to a completely worthless pile of crap, they should've just given the stealth field to the chinese stealth suit and the stealth suit MKII.

I agree the stealth suit was overpowered, but I'd rather an Overpowered stealth suit than another overpowered weapon or power armor. Which is all half the people here seem to want in DLC's.

Even so I would have just liked a suit with a +1 Stealth Field with no sneak skill bonus. I mean the OWB stealth Suit was supposed to be America's attempt at replicating chinese stealth tech albiet it had plenty of perks to it. And I would have been more then happy to have participated in an extreme challenge to get a stealth field upgrade for it.

i'll admit CSS was overpowered in the context of the game but it was china's answer to power armor(the successer to the tank ) .

They called it overpowered, I don't know how.

The one in FO3 had +5 stealth field and it was no different than a stealth boy. I'm not sorry they just did away with it.

Yes, it was totally overpowered, since Stealth boys are more common than the suits, and that the suit pales in comparison to the Stealth Boy. The Stealth Boy has a better stealth field, raises sneak by 100, and can be used while running.

I don't really get the point of having it the game period tbh, if it was supposed to be overpowered in F3 (which it was) then why not just leave it out of NV all together?

Because it's a nod to the Van Buren design documents. In Van Buren, the idea was that back before the War, the Chinese had infiltrated Hoover Dam and were in the processes of spying and saboteour work.

So they had to put stealth suits there why not say chinease assault rifles 2 birds 1 stone.

Because it would have some missing feature, the implementation of Chinese stealth suits in New Vegas was REAL half-assed.

They could have tweaked the suit, if anything. For example, shooting would disable the stealth field for 5 seconds. Then it would be used for just sneaking. I know in Team Fortress 2, the spy who has a Cloaking device cannot attack while cloaked, and his disguise (if wearing one) automatically vanishes upon attacking.

They could have just made it extermly hard to get and let it keep the stelth field. I mean it was realy easy to get and there is only 2 in the whole game.

Because IIRC, JE Sawyer said on his Formspring that he didn't want to stress a Chinese invasion like D.C. did since according to their ideas, Las Vegas doesnt hold a strategic importance like Washington D.C. or any of the big seats of power in the USA.

What I object about the suits is that there only advantage comes from their relative cheapness to repair in relation to their decent DR. I really don't like that there DR however is lower than that of the Recon Armour, especially now that we can see that the Stealth Suit from OWB was based on the CSS.

I had actually forgot about that, but you'd still think it could have been implemented a lot better than it was though, putting it in there the way they did doesn't really do anything except piss off people who like the suit in F3.
