First Time PC Player

I have no idea what I'm doing. I've played this game since it came out. Only it was on the 360. I just need a few tips and what not. Maybe some mod recommendations. Just tell me what I need to know please.

Well do you have the game installed....? That is the first step to being a PC player.

Are you looking for overhaul mods? If so OOO may be what you want. Pretty much, what didnt you like about vanilla Oblivion?

Its downloading from steam right now. I liked everything about vanilla oblivion. Maybe some better visuals and more quests and dungeons.

You have the luxury of then knowing the vanilla game well and probably have a list of things that you consider less than perfect. Approach it from that perspective - changing things you would like to see different. If you are happy with aspects of the game, don't change them. That's the approach I would take.

Start by installing the Unofficial Oblivion patches for the game and any DLCs you have. Then poke around over at TSNexus and our own mod forum to see what's available and learn some of what is involved in installing and managing mods. Good luck!

So, how exactly would I go about installing them? I have no experience with this kind of thing.

Depends on what type of mods. Going to the Mod forum here will help you.

But the rule of thumb is everything goes into the \Oblivion\Data folder. If they contain sounds, textures, meshes, or anything else then the author of the mod will usually have them already sorted into their individual folders.

.esp and .esm files go directly in the Oblivion\Data folder.

Then you either use the default Data Files section in the launcher of the game or use a Mod Manager to sort and check the files to be loaded in the game.

That is a massive subject. I would start here: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/449239-oblivion-mods-faq/

Then, as Starforce and I said, I would spend some time at TSNexus and our mod forums. There are lots of options when it comes to installation and management that to a large extent depend on what you are trying to do, how complex you expect your mod package to be and how much time you are willing to invest for a smooth and troublefree game.

Once I get the hang of it, it will probably be quite extensive. But for now I'm going to keep it simple. Mostly aesthetic upgrades. Thanks for all your guy's help, I really appreciate it.
