To Infinity and Beyond! Leveling

Post » Sun Jul 24, 2011 5:42 pm

So, I have been spending the past few days getting a character to lvl 110 without using cheats. I never actually entered the game world and was wondering how powerful the enemies will be at this level. I know the enemies are leveled, but I don't know if their power caps at a certain level. And if they don't, will my last few levels put a huge amount of power behind them.

And just for fun, anyone else do anything similar to this? I'd love to read some stories.

My current character is permanently capped at level 20 with 675 hours. The only thing you get beyond level 30 is enemies with more hit points. I've never seen a reason to level above 30 and I see many reasons not to. You do not get more powerful once your primary killing skills and attributes reach 100 - and you can easily do that before level 30. There is nothing new available in the game beyond level 30 - no new loot, no better loot, no new or different foes or quests. Again, just the same old foes with tedious amounts of hitpoints.

If I get what you are saying, the only thing that continues to increase is the health?

Yes. You or your foes are no more powerful at all at level 100 than you can easily be by level 30. The only difference is that you both have more hitpoints, so fights turn into a tediously long exercise in clicking. Let's say you are a sword fighter. Once you get 100 in blade, 100 in strength, can repair your weapon to 125%, get your hands on a nice daedric blade and enchant it, you will be doing all the damage per strike you will ever do. You can and should accomplish all this by level 30. Leveling from 30 to 100 will not increase your damage. Your foes level similarly to you. It is similar with your defense; except for more hitpoints, you should be as tanky as you will ever get by level 30 or so. Oblivion is an unusual game that way. :)

The highest I've ever gotten was Level 50 or so, although most of my characters never make it past Level 30. I normally cap them/get bored at around Level 20, although a couple of them have gone up to about Level 35.

I role play and efficient level so it is impossible for me to reach the levels that you mention.
Level 25-30 is around 300 hours for me, and at that point my game crashes with the A bomb glitch.

When that happens it is time for a new character. :twirl:
