Your opinion on the Helluva weapons and armor mod

Post » Mon Jul 25, 2011 4:40 am

I can't decide if I should turn this mod on or off. I like the idea of having all these weapons and armor in the game, but I don't like how they're randomly spread out through merchants. Kind of ruins the immersion for me when I see booksellers selling rare weapons and armor. It would be nice to just have a single NPC sell all these items.

Well I agree with the book merchants but I haven't fully tried this mod yet. I normally use fliggertys armor project with low chance plugin, but now I'm trying both

Ooh, that armor project sounds better than the helluva armor mod. Does he have a weapons project? Do I have to merge the level lists if I use it?

It doesn't conflict with Helluva mod does it?

 That's not supposed to happen.

If you remember the name of one of those booksellers that sells weapons/armors, I could check it out to see if it's an error in the leveled lists or something like that. By the way, do you use Spiffy's balancing of the Helluva mod?

I didn't. I thought that mod just rebalanced the stats of the weapons and armor. And it's not just that bookseller, EVERY merchant sells a random weapon and armor now, along with the stuff they're intended to sell.

sounds weird. there is something going wrong. this is not intended that way.

you could post your modlist so we can see if something interferes in a way it shouldn't.

I just downloaded... Now which .esp file do I choose? If I choose the balance esp files, do I have to uncheck the regular helluva .esp files?

For my balancing mod, There are several options with the plugins. I'd go for the Complete if all you want is the balancing of HELLUVA armors and weapons. As for Fliggerty's Armor Project, I was under the impression that Flig considers HELLUVA as the successor to his mod... So, while they don't conflict, there would be a lot of overlap with the added weapons...

As for you problem, I'd download the Helluva Merchants again because that is what controls the merchants inventory. Maybe yours is unclean or something...

Also, I notice you have a Mashed List. I would recommend SmartMerger. Just open the GUI, and check the boxes "Load INI - file list" and "Merged Objects-like" and then click the button "Merge/Work on." This will create an plugin that merges objects and leveled lists. If there is a conflict, that new plugin will likely solve that.

When I turn the balance esp files on, I get the no mesh sign for the modded armors. It gives me that huge yellow diamond wit the exclamation mark. And I was just talking about Smartmerger in my other thread. I was talking about how I wouldn't know how to use it lol, but I'll try it now.

Don't know that it's really the same thing, but I prefer BTB's Equipment plug-in. It changes the specs on a lot of things, enough to make it somewhat new for me when I start a new file (which I've done recently). Ditto with his Alchemy plug-in.

If I want any new armor, I'll just add it in myself. Speaking of which, I should get around to doing that soon. :P

Oh, BTW, the bookmerchants don't sell the weapons and armors like I said they did. I only thought they did... but I still get outfitters who sells weapons and armor. Is that random enough?

That is what outfitters do after all: Outfit their customers with whatever gear they could possibly need to go adventuring.

... So, maybe the HELLUVA mod WAS working perfectly after all? I just thought it was a bit weird seeing random weapons pop up in the merchant's stocks like the guy in the fighter's guild.
