The giant that bugged me

I really got bugged about that giant that got lifted off the ground by the dragon in the demo clip, what I mean is it had no realistic movements such as flailing arms and such, he just bended back his legs and fell, you would think that you would be swinging your arms like a mad thing not like that giant that looked like he was enjoying the view or saying to himself " I think I can see my house from here" also I would like them to have random clothing on each one, in fact all enemies could use that feature, is this such a hard code to create? maybe it is I don’t know anything about code.

The ragdoll still should've reacted to such an impact. It looked like a victim of taxidermy when it came for the dragon to pick it up.

The giant wasn't alive to be flailing and i did see some rag-doll however it was quite minute we don't want over the top rag-doll though otherwise it wont be taken seriously, why don't you do role play like we are supposed to and imagine that the dragon has some paralyzing agent in it's claws which locked up the body of the giant or perhaps a spell the dragon cast to stop the giant from moving :celebration:

Was the giant's fall awkward? Yes. Does it actually affect game play in any way? No.

i watched the clip again and slowed it down, and it turns out that the dragon hooks the giant around the neck with a talon then it looks like it just drops him, so what to make of that mmmmm

Or we can remember that the game isn't complete yet and that they could very well perfect the raggdoll physics before the game is released.

Just a thought

The talon had such an impact it pretty much killed the giant with one stab through the neck! :flamethrower:

True and im guessing that they'll just make ragdolls top heavy so when they do get effected by gravity at a high altitude they will fall realistically with a more graceful death plunge I mean thats what a mod did in oblivion.

The dragon picking him up was awesome, I saw the shadow come over the giant and I was like "No. Freaking. Way." But then I saw the physics of the giant, it seemed like the momentum of the dragon didn't give the giant any momentum, and then the ragdoll was just foolish. It literally fell with its knees slightly bent. It was funny as hell, but it would just be unfunny and I feel they need to improve that aspect of ragdolls.

Just accept it, Bethesda doesn't spend a lot of time on Havok, which is a pity.

I can live with that idea lol although it would complete that scene for me to see the giant panic on his way down or as other people said raised arms and such not over the top like halo but realistic, where im getting with this is when i seen that part of the demo i didn't even notice that part really but i have seen that clip so often now that it sticks out, besides that very small detail the game looks epic beyond proportions and i cant wait for it! dramatic falling npcs or not

the giant acted realistically when being tossed from the air. first off even if the giant did not get killed with the stab he probably [censored] himself as soon as he went 100 feet in 1 second. which made him freeze up and drop like you would if you were picked up by a dragon. so Bethesda did an amazing job with this. your whining is your own personal problem.

Did you ever think that the impact might of killed the giant. Also it would be pretty hard to code for all the people and creatures to have flailing arms and legs because each person/creature would be different and the game is big as it is do you think adding more script work to create more realistic falls would be worth pushing it further back to next year...No didn't think so. Also I though the animation for the giant falling was fine as long as he wasn't ridged like a plank his legs crumbled and we didn't see the final conclusion of him hitting the ground it might of been a seriously cool rag doll effect.

And also if you saw the moment when he was fighting the Dreugr in the tomb he used a dragon shout of force and the way they were blasted back looked awesome way better than oblivion.

And atleast they actually fall fast in this cause in oblivion it was like they took forever to hit the ground and were in some slow mo state and it looked terrible.

Him being dead does not mean that his arms shouldn't be moving independently from his body.

he was low on health, when the dragon grabbed him his health bar disappeared, he died, he stopped living, he expired, he kicked the bucket, he bought the big one, etc etc etc...

*brings up video and points at the giant* THIS IS AN EX-GIANT!

just picked up where you left off.

seriously, people complain about the smallest things... we have dragons that can pick people/enemies up and toss them... i was left with my mouth hanging open for several minutes when i saw that, even if it did look a little awkward, that was just freaking incredible!

i hope we can still interact with corpses, like in oblivion... grabbing them, moving parts of their body... because if i ever see a dragon do that to a giant and kill it, im gonna run over to the giant and use it as a ventriloquist dummy.
