Lets Plays, Playthroughs, Walkthroughs

Post » Mon Jul 25, 2011 5:14 pm

Hey guys.

Im currently looking for a good commentated walkthrough/playthrough/ Lets play (for DLCs) done by a person (or people) that actually knows how to play the game.
I like SSoHPKC, DSPgaming, among other game-commentary however I have some critical issues with some of them (In regards to Fallout).
My biggest issue with DSPgaming is because of his videos (im not talking about video quality like 240,360, 480 etc) I'm talking about how his videos look because he uses a camera to record a television instead of using a HDPVR or fraps for PC. Its dark and difficult to see because the saturation and scaling is completely off. He also doesn't play the game very well (doesn't understand builds, which weapons are good and bad, holds onto a lot of useless junk etc). I love his commentary and most of his lets-play material (for other games) but I am kinda OCD when it comes to RPG games like Fallout.
SSoHPKC's material is good looking [because he uses a HDPVR] but he suffers the same problem with DSP in that he does not know how to play the game (or forgot a lot since last time he played).

I am a huge fan of the Tuninator (his material is amazing) (also hilarious to watch him freak out when he goes into scarey vaults), but his material is heavily modded Its almost like watching a completely different game (which in no way is less awesome than vanilla). I am always gonna follow the Tuninator but I also want to watch a good lets-play of plain vanilla Fallout New Vegas (or Fallout 3).

Has to have Checklist:
1. Good commentary [if the guy has an annoying voice, or horrible commentary it gets boring/annoying fast]
2. Decent quality video [Regular Fraps for PC is what I am looking for or HDPVR for console.]
3. Not heavily modded or lightly modded

I appreciate any help in regards to this because I like watching other people play its just I get frustrated if the person doesn't know what they are doing.

Thanks a lot,

DrDank

@DrDankness I watch DSP also and I know this guy should improve upon his style of gameplay/builds. The reason i say this is BC he doesn't meticulousy create his builds.

P.S. I agree with you DrDankness

You've asked a rhetorical question, is there really a "right way" to play Fallout 3 or NV?

Its not even a factor of meticulously creating his builds. Sometimes I think he lacks common sense. I mean honestly who would sell a Light Shining in Darkness..... whooooooooooo :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Well, the DLC Let's Plays that AlChestBreach does are blind, but he is a pretty competent player in my book. Well, that and he is hilarious.

Well there is an underlying difference between knowing the fundamentals of how to play this game vs not knowing the fundamentals.
However I will make a correction: Is there an in-game commentator that plays closer to how I would play the game.

Just a clarification. What do you mean blind? You mean without guidance from the wiki or Fallout NV guide? Because Im completely cool with that. I just find players that lack build strategy and ingame fundamentals frustrating.

I did a blind OWB playthrough http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHfDpGkJ03E, recorded using FRAPS, in which I actually managed to find all the locations, but there's no commentary.

Intact. Thanks for the recommendation. I am loving this guy's material. Surprised he isn't more popular.
It was exactly what I was looking for. Looking forward to more recommendations

Thank you for the recommendation JW1 however I find watching other people play games without commentary rather boring. Reminds me too much of watching someone play a game for me without any talking @.@

Alchestbreach also has some good content on his channel as the previous guy mentioned.

DSP doesn't pay attention to what he's doing and plays the game like an FPS. However, he does only really use energy weapons so the Light Shining in Darkness is pretty much useless to him. When you see the amount of useless crap he totes around, I'm surprised he sold even that.

I can appreciate that. I do put the odd note in there to explain what the hell I'm doing as it's not always obvious (even to me!). Oh, and the odd outburst when I'm eaten by yet another nightstalker.
