(Yet another) New Character

Hi everyone :) I've missed you guys :3

I've recently been toying with the idea for a combat oriented character, as I've never played one (really). I've been researching a fair bit about vikings and Norseman in general, so I'm going to create him in that vein. However, as usual, I'd like your ever helpful input.

What I have so far.

Race: Nord

Attributes: Endurance, Agility

Skills (not major skills, just skills to be used): Blunt (Axes), Marksman (hunting), Light armour (fur and leather), blade and armourer.

As far as backstory goes, I don't have much. Only that he left his life in Skryim to find himself and his Gods. Due to this, he's going to be spending a lot of time in the wilderness (solitude was used by Norseman of old when attempting to communicate with the Gods).

What do you guys think? Any changes you'd make?
Also, any suggestions for a Birthsign would be awesome :P

Hi everyone :) I've missed you guys :3

And we′ve missed you too :P

Interesting idea you have there :foodndrink: As a Scandinavian, the viking culture and their beliefs is what I grew up with and I think your build is solid. But if you′re going for the stereotype viking, maybe you should consider Strength instead of Agility? I like that choice too however as it prevents staggering and promotes bow-using, but strength is needed when wielding and doing lots of damage with a heavy battle axe!

You asked for a birthsign... hmm... How about the Lord? It has a lesser power known as Blood of the North, which sounds like a viking sign, right?
Or the Warrior maybe? As it enhances Endurance and Strength it′s also a suited birtsign for your viking

Excellent point about taking Strength. However, I'm not going for the stereotypical "[censored] and pillage" viking. The way I see it, a viking dressed in furs and leather would much rather not be in the way of his foe's axe, something I feel he'd take over his ability to cleave a troll in two. His strength is going to build up anyway, because of his primary fighting skills.

Also, I think he'll be mainly wielding one handed weapons, perhaps with a shield. But probably not.

The Lord, interesting. I hadn't thought of that. I would take The Warrior, but I dislike purely stat based Birthsigns (irrelevant at the endgame).

I'm thoroughly looking forward to creating this character.

Edit: Also, I'm wondering about names. I've never been much good at Nord names. Especially the last bit like "Fire-Eye" etc.

I don′t consider myself good with names either, but my viking-style Nord in Morrowind is named Karl the Northener. Karl being a name for many kings in Sweden and also for regular men.

But what about Harald Bluetooth, the real Norwegian chief who gave name to..eh, bluetooth?

Making a Viking doesn't have anything to do with the upcoming Skyrim does it? ;)
Seriously though, good to see someone excited about the character creation process. Its my favorite part of Oblivion.

My most recent character:

A Red Orc Warlock. He literally is red (its possible with some heavy manipulation of the skin tone sliders, even in Vanilla Oblivion - and it looks cool and unique!). His major skills are basically the same as a pure Mage, only I've replaced Alchemy with Heavy armor. The only heavy armor my character uses is gauntlets and boots (eventually daedric, for the cool factor). Otherwise he wears the Necromancer robes (Enchanted and re-named Warlock's Garments to avoid mages guild members not talking to me) and no helmet. His Restoration is his main damage ability (absorb life over time - he does not know how to use healing spells though), and he relies on summons to take the brunt of the enemy's damage. He uses Alteration to buff his summon with more defense and such, Illusion to cast fear spells every once in awhile, and destruction purely to lower the enemy's resistance to magic. He uses mysticism purely for it Soul Capturing abilities, as he will eventually have a small collection of choice souls for his home display cases.

This is one of my favorite character's I've ever made, and being an Orc caster is suberbly fun and interesting, not to mention being red.

I like the Atronach for spell absorption, even if your Nord will ignore magic. The Thief would also be useful with its Luck, Speed and Agility bonuses.
