Puzzling and Annoying

Post » Wed Aug 26, 2009 12:13 pm

So both Bethesda and Splash damage announced that they aren't going to add anything else to the game from now on....
So what's the point of waiting freaking 6 months before releasing the game?
I know that they also mentioned "making sure the game is balanced" through the various beta's and gaming events. But surely it doesn't take THAT long to bloody fix up a game.
Come on and think already, take your time I don't mind, but don't take too long.

Perhaps it would be a nice christmas present -_-?

you underestimate the problem of balancing, it's quite hard in a regular game, let alone one with so many options.
furthermore, i think this has been discussed in a different thread?

Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.
Balancing a game to such an extent doesn't take 6 months. Whatever, I don't care if it's been discussed in another thread, I'm trying to get MY opinion out there.
No hate against you mate, I just want someone with some sort of authority to read this...

You're right. Balancing is one of the most important things to do with a game and rushing games out never works anyways.

Let's take Starcraft 2 as a great example of balancing. I followed the game for over a year and they were just tweaking all the unit stats and their abilities. Even now while the game is out, they're still continueing the balancing process.
6 months may seem long to you, but it really isn't if you want to get a good game.

The anticipation is killing me. But surely, just surely, they could at least cut down a little bit of time?
A great friend of mines dad worked for Insomniac previously (Ratchet and Clank if not familiar). They actually hold the games in store at least a month before, and let all their advertising and promotions attract more customers etc, then they release it.
As I said, it'd be a really nice christmas present, as well as still giving them at least 3 months tweaking?

PLUS (Sorry bout being so annooyyyinnng)

Splash said that they want this game to be played years after release. If that's the case, release a demo so we can at least have something to play for the next 6 months -_-?

i don't see how that would make people play the game longer, it would only mean people played the demo for 6months prior to actually playing the game. and people that only want to buy it to use smart might choose to stick with the demo

Jaja u make a good point, abeit against your arguement. the brink promotional campaign hasn't really started, outside of game expos there havsn't been any ads, even on youtube there are only one or two teasers. Maybe they are working up their ad campaign as well as tweeking and add in a month or two just for promotional puroses.

As for the lack of a demo, nothing's been officially released on whether there will be or not, so you'll just have to wait closer to release.

And yes, the anticipation is killing all of us

Ratchet and clank doesn't need as much tweaking as this game. It's mostly singleplayer, and what do AI enemies care about weapon balance? Ofcourse I'd like to see the game earlier, except when they are balancing the game to get the max out of it.

They were not planning on releasing a demo.
If they want to have the game played for the next years, they just have to make an SDK for pc and port the popular stuff the community makes to the consoles.
I just hope that they release some info soon, in order to keep the discussion going. ^^

Still, still I keep restating it doesn't take 6 months to properly tweak. Oh well, I'm losing a winning battle anyway.
If they ATLEAST release some PROPER gameplay or some RELEVANT AND USEFUL game information I will be satisfied.

i welcome any new information, and you have to look at the big picture, it's not just the guns they need to balance(something doesn't get done in the cod's, wich is why they get released so fast), but the attachments, the abilities and the bodytypes aswell, and every adjustment kicks back, a pistol that get's overpowered will make the light and mediums better choices, an attachment that get's underpowered will be useless, an attachment that get's overpowered will make guns that can't use it obsolete, there's a whole lot more to it than you think

We already have an ongoing discussion of the Release Date, http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1114532-push-back/. Let's go ahead and continue to talk about it over there.
