Logging on to multiplayer for the first time in several months, just an hour ago (living over here in South Korea), and I see only two servers with no one playing.

I am sorry that I can't be of much help. Game is certainly alive in UK, Europe, Russia, USA, Australia and I think Japan.

Why South Korea? Just play on a US, or European server....

If I was a Korean player i'd want to play there for the better ping.

There are IU; korean pc server still alive but no one play in it.
You might need to manually filter through all the populated region in server browser filter to see alive servers correctly.
or in some cases, just typing in server name is much faster. (you can try KOR also.)
Some of fragnetics servers , DDD, any nfo servers are some of my suggestions for low to decent ping.
