OWB lag in overworld when enemies rez

Post » Thu Jul 28, 2011 2:41 am

Hello!

I am having the same lag issues when outside in Big MT as a lot are.

I seem to notice it happening the most when enemies approach or rez. And sometimes when leaving a building into the "overworld" area.

I turned off "save on travel" and I play while not logged into the PSN to use less of the system RAM, but it seems like it is a RAM issue...... mainly, not enough.

The reason why i suspect it is the RAM is the XMB is bogged down when this happens.

Can this possibly be fixed by lowering the draw distance 9or something) in the Big MT outside area?

Or is there a way to refresh the RAM of what is loaded without turning off the game and reloading?

Oh, I am playing on a save file that is 12mb and was created after patch 1.01 with the classic pack DLC. I also have Dead Money installed and Honest Hearts.

I have the same issue, so when I was traveling through Big MT I had to reload alot and fast travel once I found locations in order to avoid that. But you said you turned off some background ps3 functions to reduce RAM usage? Did it work?

Because I have lag almost everywhere now, even with having done the things everyone in forum has suggested-

- create new save and load
- rebuild database for PS3
- delete all DLC and reinstall
- throw ps3 into busy street (kidding)

And isn't the PS3 lauded as a hardware powerhouse? So wouldn't any slowdown / freeze up issues be largely due to software discrepancies?

All that being said... it is fun as hell to walk outside of the Sink and start gunning down lobotomites, so imagine if it could be done... WITHOUT LAG!!???!!!

I'd be beside myself with joy... FOR SCIENCE!

I turned off what I can. on the PS3, but beyond not being connected to the PSN and the internet, there is not much else that can be done.

Unless Sony adds a setting to where it can reduce the features, we may be boned.

Oddly, I never had any issues with Fallout 3 or F:NV and it's expansions until Honest Hearts where they started testing some new code for Skyrim.

But unlike Honest Hearts, I never notice any rain/weather to cause the lag, so what gives?
