Specific armor and weapon replacers

Post » Thu Jul 28, 2011 6:18 am

Anyone have any good mods that replaces the skins on certain weapons and armor? I already have Darknut's weapon and armor replacer. And I have all of Oriphier legendary weapons replacers, which I think are some of the best work done on remodeling weapons, especially the ice blade of monarch. It would be nice to have a good ice and dwemer armor replacer.

I've never seen an Ice armor replacer, nor a dwemer replacer.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5549 is the best Dwemer armor replacer I've ever seen.

Stalhrim has yet to be touched by anyone really, which is a shame. I plan to do it myself one day, but right now, I lack the skills.

Doesn't have to be dwemer, or ice armor, could be steel, imperial, anything. As long as they're good.

Hedgehog has replacers for almost all the armor.

They are not to everyone's taste, so you might be surprised by some of his choices.

Keep in mind that they are very demanding on your computer (very high-poly count.) Most of them will cause older computers, or computers with weak graphic cards, to loose a lot of FPS.

Lol, I just actually got back from trying his steel one before I saw your post. They're great, but it kills my FPS. One full set of steel on a mannequin, indoors, lowers my fps from like 40 to 8. Wish I had a better computer.

Not to mention the rest of your game better have gotten the same level of treatment, or any character that's wearing armor is REALLY going to stand out.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=9131 is a pretty great collection I play with. It requires some additional resources, but shouldn't tank your system like Hedgehog's models will. Adamantium, Indoril, and Her Hand's armor look especially nice with the extra bump / gloss map touch.

Does it take more cpu than darknut's 1024 armor texture replacement? Not saying his 1024 armor textures lags the game too much.

It does look nice. What's the additional resource that I'll need?

I think Chesko meant "resources" as in PC speed. But I may be mistaken.

In my previous testing, texture size has never reduced my FPS / increased my GPU/CPU load by very much, it just consumes more VRAM.

But the short answer is "probably". It depends on your system. Try it and see.

Edit: Yes, I meant additional PC resources. More memory, CPU, GPU, etc. It may also require the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19510 for the bump/gloss map effects, but don't quote me on that.
