I wonder, who will finally design the interface?

Lets see the dictionary... revenue... you mean they would pay modders to do the interface?

Okay, what does who will design the final interface have to do with revenue?

Anyone who mods knows that attempting to make revenue from their mods is STRICTLY forbidden. There is thing called a EULA which prohibts it.

Actually, I see our society more as "time is money, but only if someone rich decides to pay you for it."

What I mean by interface? Simple. If a major corporation such as Bethesda were hypothetically to build a web-app integration which facilitated this, it would be within the EULA.

Like Blizzard selling WoW gold. We all know they do it. It would be foolish for them not to.

Unless your mod never touches the modding tools.

If all you did was make a new sword slash sound and just outright replaced it. You could technically sell it.

The EULA, for the CS and GECK at least, states that Bethesda is granted ownership of anything created using the program. So if you make a 3D model and place it in the game via the editor, Bethesda owns it. Yes the model too.

Ive read both the CS and GECK EULAs twice over. Ive argued the legality of many mods.

I think op means who would design the method(interface) that turns free mods-->mods for $$, and does it in such a way that free mods fade out, and the only good mods cost. Could be wrong though.

On a more personal note, I respect, enjoy, and am grateful to those whose mods I use. However, I would hate to have to pay for them. Especially when half the mods I try I end up not using. I would not buy any mods, and I think it would ruin the whole idea that is the modding community. Modding to me is something done by fans, for themselves and other fans. Throwing money into the equation just kicks it up. Plus, if a modder is truly talented, he may be picked up by a company, or start his own etc etc. Modding seems more of a path to that, or a hobby, then a business. That's just this mod users take on it, and having never created a mod myself take it for what it's worth :)

I hope they have a clause denying the possibility to earn money from making mods. Just like Bohemia Interactive Studios have with their Arma series. You either license the engine for a fee and produce a new game with it, or you're forced into doing it for free.

I've never done any mods for this game, but I used to be heavily involved with Flightsim modding and developing. When everything became payware oriented, myself and several others just dropped out of it. Although there are some awesome payware stuff around, I feel there is so much stuff out there designed only to get money out of it.

During the freeware period, everyone was nice, and small disputes were handled adequately on community forums. When payware arrived, it brought hostilities hard to believe, with lawsuits filling the community headlines, followed by not so pleasant reading, and nearly completely shut outs of everything that wasn't payware. These were not happy times. Not at all. Maybe it recovered. But not for me.

There is actually a legal clause that Bethesda owns your soul if you play one of their games. So even if you sold it (agenst the law) they still own you.
