These characters from FNV and FO3 have similar function and role, dissonant level to the boss, and troop prestige. Both of them are the mini-antagonist, have the balls to go against the wishes of their masters, hold the power of the loyalty of their goons, have their personal weapons which they hide under their beds, and both are survivers by way of goon security and sneakiness. Colonel Autumn survives by interception and expecting the unexpected, he injects himself with Ultra Rad-X. Benny prevails by deceit and by shifting the balance of a confrontation so that it becomes an improvised trap.
The observable difference between Colonel Autumn and Benny shows in their personalities: Colonel Autumn is that methodical, interrogation type who 'wants you to hand over control / wants the code now' and is soon 'running out of patience' which is shown twice in FO3. Benny from FNV is the wild, early 1960's lounge snake that reminds you of Jerry Lewis starring in a movie that illustrates how a real swingin' cat should behave, which is to lie, cheat, kill and steal, and to give twenty caps to a child so he can tell them to 'get to the Gap, fast.'
