HELP FAST PLEASE : Fallout: New Vegas

Okay, i bought this game today and installed it.. took like 10mins.!

I get to press play and then this pops up

AppName: falloutnv.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.240 ModName: falloutnv.exe
ModVer: 1.0.0.240 Offset: 007c1a65

HELP ME!

You have to log on to Steam and that should have happened automatically. The disk contains ver. 1.0 and the game is up to ver. 1.4 which Steam automatically updates to. Try reinstalling with your computer hooked to the internet. (You did buy a shrink-wrapped copy and not off one of your friends right?)

Im not using steam mate.

i press play and then it goes black and then the error -.-'
