Dude, that's like asking
"Do you think that a Macbook will be better than a calculator?"
Hell yeah I think the MacBo-- I mean Skyrim will be better than Morrowind! Once Skyrim comes out, Morrowind will be MorroWHACK. (No offense intended)

I see a lot of NO PURPOSE in this topic. Comparing Morrowind and Skyrim is like comparing Halo 1 and Battlefield 3...they both have SOME of the same ideas behind them, but the two are made in different time eras of video games. I loved Morrowind, I played it for several hundred hours on XBox, it was my first game...but I'm sure now that I have matured a lot since that time, Skyrim will have its own flavour that I will love and Morrowind is like that memory that "Back then was way better than now...". Just my honest opinion...

Since a game is not made by graphics and AI, I dont think Skyrim will be better than Morrowind AS A WHOLE. I think it will be better in some respects, but maybe not as a whole. Morrowind was pretty revolutionary, and it would be like saying modern rock is better than the Beatles.

We have to keep in mind that the game itself and our experience of it are two separate entities. While I think, as a game, Morrowind would be better, I just cant ignore that the experience of playing Morrowind for the first time back in 2003-2004 is gonna hardly be matched by Skyrim. Thats just an experience in my life I cannot erase.

However, since I dont go about life judging my moments in comparison to other moments and experiences, since that would be psychotic and the sure path to insanity, depression, and nihilism, Im gonna enjoy Skyrim without looking back. I cant wait to completely destroy my inner clock and my sleep playing this 16 hours a day.

Morrowind had unique plant and animal life: Giant floating jellyfish that could adminster electric shock, larvae that spat poison, an array of dinosaur like creatures that flew, spewed forth poison gas, gored, or headbutted you. Squidlike men that beat the crap out of swimmers. It had awesome spells/magical effects like levitation, mark, and recall.
The foliage wasn't as earthlike. It was like literally, escaping into another world, because it was so different, so imaginative.

I hope Skyrim isn't as predictable as Oblivion. But with Nords being human, I expect the theme of medival times to continue.

apparently the general consensus is the only thing morrowind will have over skyrim is a better story. where getting closer to making an even better game than morrowind.

If Skyrim going to beat Morrowind it needs to recapture what made Morrowind so good, the sense of discovery and uniqueness of the land. I think Skyrim really needs to show off Nord culture, Skyrim's political factions, and variety of unique landscapes. It short, it should to be unique and foreign to the player, so part of the fun playing is derived from wanting to learn more about it. At least that is how I view it.

Agreed. As much as I think I will enjoy Skyrim, I just don't think any game will ever capture the magic (for me at least) that Morrowind had. If you put both games in front of me and asked which one I would rather play, it would be Skyrim in a heartbeat. But overall, Morrowind was my first ES experience, and was so unique and had such an amazing story that I don't see any game topping it any time soon.

I would agree with this. And i personally feel this story has the makings to be better, but we won't know until the game is released. Why can't 11/11/11 be tomorrow!

you really can't compare games because u will always love a game and nothing will live up to it regarless if it's predecessor is a fantastic game . let skyrim stand on it's own and just let urself soak in that world and enjoy it

I agree. And i have held that position for quite awhile. I have said before that we are all developing a game in our heads that is impossible to make. That is the real reason "Hype kills" game.
