Dwemer Ruins Speculation

Post » Fri Jul 29, 2011 6:21 am

Many have been celebrating of the return of Dwemer ruins, but many questions have not been answered yet. What kind of creatures/people are going to inhabit these ruins? Will the dungeons be a primary dungeon type found throughout Skyrim? Are traps going to make you be more cautious and observant of your environment? Will players find unique loot? I hope some of the creatures of Morrowind will return, (since Centurion Spheres have been shown in a GameInformer report) or new creatures will be seen. Although, I sincerely hope these dungeons will be found in the environment frequently, since the Dwemer environments have always been mysterious. :woot: Personally, this is one thing I'm going to look for 11-11-11.

I think there will be few dwemer ruins in the game. I expect a lot more nordic ruins of the ancient nords.

Why would Dwemer Trap their homes? :D personally I hope for environmental effects, like bursting pipes spraying you with searing hot Steam, malfunctioning doors, Containment pods tossing Lava down a hallway or extreme heat :D

anything "trapped" should be placed by Bandits :P

I meant the traps to be between environmental effects, and bandit constructs.

By the looks of Markarth Side (I think I read somewhere that it was dwemer), I'm sure towers, and elaborate ruins will be appearing. I wonder where though, geographically they should appear near the Reach, since Markarth Side is within that region.

I don't expect there to be too many dwemer ruins. I'm speculating they never had a very large presence in Skyrim. They probably only had a few settlements in Skyrim.

I loved the Dwemer ruins in Morrowind. The rusty metal cities cropping over/inside of mountains were beautiful. It was always a good idea to go in them, as they always had good loot. You could find gems inside the crates, get a good amount of raw glass and ebony, and I loved gathering ornate dwemer things to decorate my house. I also collected dwemer coins. I had a thousand+ in one character.

I also loved the Mages Guild questline that dealt in researching them. I found it to be fun. Oblivion, of course, everything came to saving the world, and battling undead necromancer kings, but I liked going city to city as an adventurer helping research dwemer ruins also.
